Bugzilla – Bug 8744
Controller will not connect to a network wih non-ascii characters in the SSID
Last modified: 2009-10-01 06:23:02 UTC
The Controller will not connect to a network with an SSID that contains non-ascii characters. Example: SSID on the router: résdau Controller will see: r_dau Try to connect and it will fail The customer I helped had his network set up like this on an airport router, but I did not get the exact model number before he had to get off of the phone. I will get additional details the next time I speak to him.
Reproduced relatively easily, not all routers allow for non-ascii SSID's, Dlink does. Exactly as Julius describes SSID of résdau SBC sees r_dau and fails to connect.
Ben: you the right person to assign this too?
this isn't going to be fixed by 7.3. retarget for 7.3.1
Changing target to next release

Moving to the product SqueezePlay because this bug appears to apply to any player based on that application code. Feel free to move it back if it's specific to the single original product.
this is an administrative shuffle on priority fields to help make better judgment on the top end of the priority list. P4->P5, P3->P4, and P2->P3.
Need to retest. I think that should be ok now.
This is fixed in 7.4. BTW: Out of four routers I tried only one allowed to set the SSID to résdau.
