See http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=43398

Create an editable "Network Settings" page where existing items are pre-filled and editable.

Currently the only way to change any network settings is to forget the network and re-enter all settings - not trivial with long passphrases, and frustrating/time-consuming if all you want to change is the DNS setting (for example).

Editable items:

- SSID
- encryption setting
- passphrase
- IP address
- gateway
- DNS

Comment 5 Ben Klaas 2008-07-25 07:37:06 UTC
punting to 7.3
Comment 6 Ben Klaas 2008-11-02 12:49:29 UTC
this isn't going to be fixed by 7.3. retarget for 7.3.1
Comment 7 Francis Liu 2008-12-18 05:17:54 UTC
Can the menu also include bridge mode as per bug #9024?
Comment 8 Mike Walsh 2008-12-18 09:08:48 UTC
this would also be good for allowing to assign static IPs for SBC and SBR which don't give you that option easily, (among other things).

and i'd love to see slim use real passphrases, and get away from hex codes.

Changing target to next release
Comment 10 Chris Owens 2009-03-16 09:34:45 UTC
We are now planning to make a 7.3.3 release. Please review your bugs (all marked open against 7.3.3) to see if they can be fixed in the next few weeks, or if they should be retargeted for 7.4 or future.

Thanks!
Comment 11 Chris Owens 2009-03-30 17:18:08 UTC
Since there's now a planned 7.3.3 release, bugs which won't make the cut-off are being moved to the next target out. If you feel that this bug needs to be addressed more (or less) urgently than the 7.4 release, please cc chris@slimdevices.com and leave a comment in the bug to that effect so we can review it.

Thanks.

Seriously? Over a year after releasing a network-oriented music system you still can't justify prioritizing a network setup menu for it?
Comment 13 James Richardson 2009-04-06 09:56:21 UTC
Dean: can you please comment on the priority for this issue?
Comment 14 Blackketter Dean 2009-04-08 07:30:12 UTC
I suggest that this be an option from the new diagnostics page, like we do on the network settings screens on IP3K based players.

Richard, what do you think?
Comment 15 Richard Titmuss 2009-04-08 07:36:25 UTC
I disagree, that would be a lot of work for little benefit. You can change network (SSID, encryption, etc.) easily from the Wireless Network menu in 7.x and the new Networking menu from 8.0, any changes to these need to take you through the 'wizard' anyway. This is hard code to get right, with all the edge cases covered, and we should not do this twice in different ways.

I think the one feature people request fro this is to switch from dhcp to static ip. We need to work out the best place for that.
Comment 16 Francis Liu 2009-04-11 21:11:56 UTC
I don't mind where the menu item is as long as it's possible to enable bridge mode as per bug #9024!
Comment 17 Mikael Nyberg 2009-04-11 22:48:39 UTC
One clarification please.

For the controller I figure you are building a new nice menu page in the controller like the diagnostic menu (nice work btw).

But for the Reciever (or all other players to ultimately)I think the settings should be edited and accessed from SqueezeCenter ?

That was what i thought this bug was about ?

You of course improve the setup of SBR from SBC that is not wrong and very much needed, but it still makes the SBR dependent on the SBC for settings.
Comment 18 Mike Walsh 2009-04-12 09:32:55 UTC
ditto.

why force someone to go "duet" if all they want is a single SBR and SC?

i love the idea of being able to setup and save a config for any and all players right in SC. sure would make things easier. if HEX only entry is still to be the way with players, then include a hex convertor in SC to enter that code into the player for you from a passphrase.

Moving to the product SqueezePlay because this bug appears to apply to any player based on that application code. Feel free to move it back if it's specific to the single original product.
Comment 20 Chris Owens 2010-02-02 15:11:26 UTC
Moving Matt Weldon bugs
Comment 21 Mikael Nyberg 2010-02-02 16:31:04 UTC
How can this have target "future" when 7198 who depends of this has target 8.0.0
and 9024 who has target 8.1.0 also depends on this

Future, I disagree, 7502 and 7139 is really important. (it will also get 7198 & 9024)

So these 4 bugs should all get 8.0.0 ?

Unassigned bugs cannot have a priority.
