Bugzilla – Bug 9024
Duet Receiver Bridging very dificult to enable
Last modified: 2010-05-07 10:20:22 UTC
Using the Duet Receiver as a bridge has been implemented in the receiver hardware, but is disabled in the factory configuration. It is not implemented in either the SqueezeCenter or Controller user interfaces. Thus there is no way (short of a cryptic third party perl utility) to configure the Receiver to enable wireless bridging. My first choice on resolving this is to user proof it. If the receiver detects both a wired and wireless interface, it can attempt to reach the SqueezeCenter/SqueezeNetwork IP over both the wired and wireless routes. If it only works on the wireless, then the wired interface can automatically operate in bridge mode. If access is only over the wired interface, then bridging is turned off, and if it manages to connect over both, the bridging is also turned off. Regardless, the current wired/wireless/bridge mode ought to show up in the receiver "status" screen on the controller. This approach would eliminate the need for any user interface options and should play well on the network, regardless of how the user connects everything. thanks John
This is a frustrating regression from Squeezebox functionality. Calling it an enhancement seems somewhat disingenuous.
Doh, there will be no 7.4 - moving it to 8.0

You can do this with the plugin: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=43722 But it could be easier as you describe.
Targeting based on engineering discussion

I have followed above instructions using net_udap and although I manage to set various SBR settings, whenever I set bridging=1 the SBR no longer connects to the network. I have no problems setting it up to connect using wired interface=1 or wireless interface=0 using WEP, but no go when bridging enabled. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.
All new Squeezebox products are likely to be based on the SqueezePlay platform. We do not plan to implement any further enhancements to the ip3k firmware or which are targeted specifically at ip3k-based products.
