Description Ross Levine 2007-09-25 14:42:20 UTC
This could have something to do with Twonky defaulting to port 9000. When browsing a UPnP media server on the network from SlimServer web interface sometimes odd messages or html appears on screen. When accessing Twonky running on Steven's Mac, the squeezebox is able to browse and play music, but the web interface is problematic. When accessing MythTV AV media server running on Anoops Ubuntu box, SlimServer never 'finds' any music but is able to infinitely browse for music, see screen shots. When trying to access TVersity running on XP the SlimServer web interface becomes problematic and music cannot stream, Squeezebox displays "Timed out waiting for data".

Can you reproduce with SS7? It's not really worth testing on SS 6.5.x anymore.
Comment 6 Ross Levine 2007-09-25 15:42:19 UTC
Forgot to mention that we're seeing this with both 6.5.4 and 7.0 (13098) I'll test again with a more recent nightly right now.

upnp is really just there for rhapsody, which I've never seen in action (life in canada, eh). I've never had it work for mythtv or musicIP's services.

bug 5645 is also linked in this.
Comment 9 Ross Levine 2007-10-02 15:54:59 UTC
According to Dean and Andy UPnP support isn't just for Rhapsody. Steven and I managed to get it work with Twonky (apple).
Comment 10 KDF 2007-10-02 17:13:04 UTC
then, it would seem that the upnp support doesn't work.

Indeed. Should we target this for 7.1, or future?

Whatever we end up deciding on this... I propose we default to 'disabled' for the feature under Settings > Advanced > Network > uPnP Client
