Description Michael Elam 2008-09-10 16:06:53 UTC
Osama in Customer Support suggested that I open this bug with engineering to receive automatic updates on it.

I did a clean install performing the exact steps below. I am still having trouble with scan not picking up new music. I have tried scanning both looking for new and changed music as well as to clear the library and rescan everything. Neither finds music newly added.

These are the steps I followed as per Osama in Customer Support:

To perform a clean install follow the steps below.

1. Open Control Panel, then open “Programs and Features”

2. Scroll down to SlimServer, select it and click “Uninstall”

3. Restart Windows

4. Go to C:\Program Files, locate and delete the SqueezeCenter folder
- Click on the Windows icon on the bottom left of the screen
- Click on Computer
- Type the path above in the Address field
- Locate and delete the SqueezeCenter folder

5. Go to C:\ProgramData, locate and delete the SqueezeCenter folder
- Click on the Windows icon on the bottom left of the screen
- Click on Computer
- Type the path above in the Address field
- Locate and delete the SqueezeCenter folder

6. Download and install SqueezeCenter from:

http://www.slimdevices.com/su_downloads.html

Once SqueezeCenter finishes scanning your music library, verify that everything is working by playing a file. You may need to update your player once you get connected.

Test to see if you are still running into the issue. Any change?

So, is the problem that you went into 'New Music' and you are not seeing what you expect? Or that music you have recently added is not showing up anywhere in the list? Is any music being scanned correctly?

Thanks.

Clear library and rescan everything works fine. The problem is when he chooses “Look for new and changed music” no new music will be picked up even when he adds new files. (RN-080830-001797)

Tier-2 Support reports we've gotten 3 additional incidents of this problem reported in the last day or two. Details to follow.

One known ticket# : 080904-000022 ... after upgrading to 7.2 scanning for new music does not find added music. He has deleted his cache. Doing a full scan finds any added music.

The above log files are for customers I've been helping that are experiencing this issue. Nothing really similar about their setup except the actual issue.

080906-001009:

Customer has Flac files located on his external hdd.

080908-002873:

Customer has MP3 files located on an internal hdd.

Bug 9432 might be related as well.
Comment 10 James Richardson 2008-09-16 15:00:28 UTC
There appears to be an SQL error causing the scanner to stop.

In my case, SQL actually corrupted it's logs (see attached)

I was also able to get the scanner to stop when DRM tracks are mixed into the new music to scan.
