Last modified: 2008-09-15 14:45:30 UTC
Created attachment 3938 [details] Scanner Log I have been trying to assist this customer get this working, but nothing has worked so far. As far as I know, there is nothing wrong with his files because the two he's sent me is being included into the database just fine on my end. He is basically having an issue with his entire music library not showing up in SqueezeCenter. Attached is a couple of his sample files and the latest scanner log with SC 7.2

To clarify, the software does scan my library, and it adds a large portion of the folders and files, but it seems to skip or misses quite a few directories and folders and there's no way to force 'manual discovery'.
(In reply to comment #3) > To clarify, the software does scan my library, and it adds a large portion of > the folders and files, but it seems to skip or misses quite a few directories > and folders and there's no way to force 'manual discovery'. > Can you navigate to the missing files by using the Browse Music Folder option?
No. However, if I copy one of the folders that the scan is missing, from the USB drive to my desktop, and map the software's "music folder" to that new location, it will detect the files. It appears to be an issue when viewing the files/folders from the USB/attached drive.
Please provide us with a full scanner.log with scan.* set to debug, check permissions on those files. If you can't browse your music folder, then there's a bigger issue, very likely with permissions. James - there's no bug to fix here as long as we don't know whether there's a bug at all.
Julius: Please include the RT Ticket Number to this bug. Please communicate Michale's request for a full scanner.log file to the customer.
Created attachment 3969 [details] Scanner Log As requested, please find the attached scanner log, with the scan preferences set as directed. Also, I've provided this same scan to Julius quite a few times before. I've tried it using a whole host of different settings, including these. I've even tried it after a clean install of the app and provided all of those files. Additionally, just to clear up any confusion: I can both read and write to the music library's directory using other programs, and even from remote computers. So, I strongly suspect that the issue is specifically with SqueezeCenter not being able to properly read the directory's files/folders adequately. As with Julius, I'd be happy to have a troubleshooting session by phone, if possible. I'm a developer, so things should go rapidly if I could chat with someone live, who would be in a position to help.
James and Michael, The Right Now ticket number is: 080603-002040. As far as I know the scanner logs I attached were full scanner logs and are directly from the customer. He did also attach a new scanner log today. Please let me know if you need anything else from me. - Julius
Adding notes from RN system -------------------------- Using external drive Using Music Match, iTunes, and Windows Media Player to rip music also Yahoo music play Using 2003 Server When I run a scan of my music library folders, it does not seem to locate and add all music that I've ripped (non-DRM protected MP3 files) to the library. ========== Jeremy: Have you had a chance to try SC 7.2 yet? or are you still using 7.0.1? What is the UNC path of your music? Can you give an example in this bug report please. I.E. \\drive\path\artist\album\\ Is your music stored on the local system (same system as SC) or another device. I.E. USB drive, Network Share, NAS What format(s) is your music stored in. MP3, MWV, AAC What bit rate(s) is your music compressed in? Lossless, CBR, VBR The last scanner log you attached is missing lots of information. Can you please verify that the following logs are set to DEBUG: Scan - All Scan Logging Scan.Import -File & Playlist Metadata Import Logging Scan.Scanner - Music & Playlist Folder Scanning Once you have done that, please SHUTDOWN SqueezeCenter Locate your Scanner.log file and delete it Locate your Server.log file and delete it Then restart Squeezecenter Once SC is up, do a "Clear and Rescan" Once the scan has completed, SHUTDOWN SqueezeCenter again. Locate your Scanner.log & Server.log files Attach them both to this bug report (not zipped)
I just upgraded to SC 7.2 and it resolved the issue. So, something must have changed with how the software scan directories. Thank you support and programming team!!
Thanks for the update Jeremy, I'll close this bug now then as it's working for you. If you see the issue again, please reopen the bug and attach the logs.
