Bugzilla – Bug 7711
SoftSqueeze plays two streams at once
Last modified: 2019-01-25 11:58:17 UTC
With the new SoftSqueeze, a lot of times I click Play and nothing happens, so I click it again. Then, after a while, SoftSqueeze plays two streams, flipping back and forth. This happens with both Internet streams and with files from my library.
Richard: are you looking at this for 7.2?
Nope, not for 7.2. Do other people see this problem?
(In reply to comment #2) > Nope, not for 7.2. Do other people see this problem? Yes, it works like this for me as well. It often will connect to a stream but not start the audio playback. If you pause, then play, it normally will get going correctly. If you press play again, it plays both streams at the same time. If you switch radio streams this same behavior can be seen. I had two very different streams playing for a while until the first stream was finally dispensed with in some way.
SoftSqueeze is a community contribution and is not officially supported. Patches are welcome to fix this problem.
Created attachment 4944 [details] Patch to fix problem with strm-t overwriting strm-s settings This patch fixes a problem about starting playing streams especially bug 10758 but I think since this bug is also a starting audio problem - this patch might also fix this bug but I haven't been able to reproduce this bug so cannot be certain.
So how do I get the patched version? Or how do I apply it in OS X?
Bryan could you please compile this and make it available for everyone that uses Softsqueeze? There are many of us who have been waiting for this fix. I built a version of SoftSqueeze with the patch for this thread http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=58217 In this zip file are replacements for the lib directory and SoftSqueeze.jar in the SC server/HTML/EN/html/softsqueeze directory. http://homepage.eircom.net/~altondsl/slim/SoftSqueezeFix.zip They are not "signed" and the version no is still 3.7 Please test to see if it cures the "two streams" problem.
Bryan, I can confirm that you fixed the problem perfectly; and worked on all my client machines. Any chance you would be allowed (and you're willing) to merge your fixes into SC's distributed Squeezeplayer version; and get it signed, with a version number 3.8? Perhaps you could also update Softsqueeze, Sourceforge as well with respective new version? I prefer this particular version over Squeezeplay any day. Thanks so much for all your effort. The sourceforge build was not "official" - this forum thread shows the discussion so far on how to get patch included http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=61138 The bottom line is there is a need for a volunteer maintainer so that code can be forked into a another repository similar to what has happened with squeezeslave.
Forgive my seemingly naive offer, but could someone like me (with no coding experience other than VB scripting, batch files) be able to fork over Softsqueeze to a separate repository and maintain code changes? I would be more than willing to help any way I can. On a Mac, the jar goes in in /Library/PreferencePanes/SqueezeCenter.prefPane/Contents/server/HTML/EN/html/softsqueeze
Bryan, does your patch in: http://homepage.eircom.net/~altondsl/slim/SoftSqueezeFix.zip Also fix: Bug 10758 If so, would it be okay to let people in the SC forum to know that both critical issues have been fixed and where to download it from? This might also get someone's attention who could volunteer to maintain Softsqueeze code.
Bryan, were you able to make available a softsqueeze 3.8 installer for the public to easily find and download? If you're not interested in doing this, do you mind if I distribute your fix to people who are looking for this fix on other Internet forums?
