Description Osama Zaidan 2009-01-26 13:16:49 UTC
Customer gets a distortion on right channel speaker when he uses Softsqueeze.
Listening to music through SB is fine, if he use a head phone the sound also comes fine.

He is running SC 7.3.2 on MAC 10.5 and a MAC 10.3 both computers are producing the same distortion on the right channel speaker.

Here's some additional information. I connected a 1/8" mini>rca stereo cable to test the analog output of the Macpro. Softsqueeze played this without a problem. When I changed the sound output system preference to on the mac to digital out, (and setting the preamp to the digital input) I got the distorted audio in the right speaker. What's interesting is this, keeping Softsqueeze open, when I switched the system preference back to Analog Line out, (and switching the preamp to the analog input) I also got the distorted audio.

Quitting Softsqueeze and relaunching makes this noise go away only using the analog output. This same approach does not work with the digital out.

Also, just so you're aware, other applications (ex. WAV file in QuickTime player) via the digital output of the mac properly.

On my 10.3.9 G5 it should be noted, I only tested the headphone output which worked fine with SoftSqueeze. I did not test the G5's digital output as mentioned in the description.

I've created a workaround this issue by installing parallels, windows XP, and both Softsqueeze and Squeezeplay running under Windows XP. Preferably I'd run Squeezeplay only, but I haven't found a way to properly change the volume using the squeezeplay app.

Latest Mac builds of squeezeplay still produce the noisy output.

This bug is not fixed despite my receiving an email that it is. After installing 7.3.3, I am still unable to use softsqueeze (distorted output), or Squeezeplay, as it only plays through the mac internal speaker and the mac pro is inside an isoboxx soundproofed equipment rack. Audio for the mac has to connect via the digital output for my work, so I'm kind of stuck. Please advise.
