Description Nigel Birch 2008-01-11 10:19:21 UTC
As requested in bug 4633, I've created this bug.

This is with v7.0 r16112. From the web interface, when browsing "Genres" > "All Albums", and sorting by any sort method that includes artist, albums that either:

 - are VA albums
or
 - have an ALBUMARTIST set

are sorted by one of the track artists, not by the VA string or ALBUMARTIST.

Thanks.

Patch, but needs more work

Well I found a fix for this bug but unfortunately it won't work because if you don't have Album Artist defined for all of your albums, some albums won't be shown. Patch attached if you want to try it.

I have to bump this bug out to 7.1 because additional work needs to be done to find a proper solution.

where is the new_schema keyword?

this is also related to bug 8380 where if fields are blank the album is missing.

We are now planning to make a 7.3.3 release. Please review your bugs (all marked open against 7.3.3) to see if they can be fixed in the next few weeks, or if they should be retargeted for 7.4 or future.

Thanks!

Since there's now a planned 7.3.3 release, bugs which won't make the cut-off are being moved to the next target out. If you feel that this bug needs to be addressed more (or less) urgently than the 7.4 release, please cc chris@slimdevices.com and leave a comment in the bug to that effect so we can review it.

Thanks.

For some reason Bugzilla did not change the target when I did this yesterday. Or maybe it was me. In either case, I'm trying it again.
