Bugzilla – Bug 597
library does not recognize my multi-disc sets
Last modified: 2011-03-16 04:19:54 UTC
My MP3 files have ID3v1.1 tags. My multi-disc sets have Album tags like Album Title (Disc 1 of 2) as per the SlimServer web interface suggestion. For instance, Miles Davis' "Bitches Brew" has songs with album tags "Bitches Brew (Disc 1 of 2)" and "Bitches Brew (Disc 2 of 2)" -- the year, artist (so this is not the same as bug 225), genre, and even comment tags are the same. But SlimServer lists this as two albums in the Browse Albums interface. I've tried toggling the "Group Discs" server behavior setting, I've tried changing the Music Folder to force full rescans, to no avail. My disc sets are still treated as separate items. I can understand that for records where the ID3v1 limitations truncated the "(Disc 1 of 2)" part to "(Disc 1 o", but not ones like Bitches Brew that fit in the tag space nicely.
The server does NOT parse (x of y) for multi-disc sets. Please see bug368. Please indicate where this suggestion is made in the interface, as this would be wrong. You must edit the TPOS tags. at least for now.
Home -> Server Settings -> Behavior has this language: "Group Discs "You can specify if multiple disc sets are treated as a single album (with a single name) or as multiple albums, each with a unique name per disc, for example "Album Title (Disc 2 of 3)". Changing this setting will start a rescan of your music library. "Treat multi-disc sets as multiple albums "Treat multi-disc sets as a single album" The paragraph seems to come from SETUP_GROUPDISCS_DESC in strings.txt. Especially when you consider that the "Multiple Items In Tags" feature does parse the contents of my ID3v1 tags, that paragraph led me to believe that SlimServer would parse Album tags for identifying multi-disc sets. I'll close this as a dupe of 368 and work on that ticket. Thank you. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 368 ***
