Bugzilla – Bug 17545
Touch with USB HDD should provide a "browse folders only" mode
Last modified: 2019-01-25 10:11:43 UTC
Tiny SBS should behave like almost any other software and provide a "browse folders only" mode without any kind of scan (may be 99% of customer's problems) nor database creation or query. We should even be able to optionally completely disable SQLLite and database feature. This could save precious resources for the limited hardware of the Touch. I set Severity to "major" because TinySBS is widely recognised as hardly usable in its current state.
this bug is related to the following thread http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=90147 and the following bugs Enable turn off autoscanning on tinysc https://bugs-archive.lyrion.org/show_bug.cgi?id=16564 SB Server should provide a "browse folders only" mode https://bugs-archive.lyrion.org/show_bug.cgi?id=17546

Restarting TinySBS each time you plug a USB device is also very long. You also have to start it manually each time, otherwise it is not possible to connect to the usb library. We should be able to start TinySBS once for all, even before any USB device is plugged. So we can switch usb sticks or hard disks without waiting each time for TinySBS to start.
(In reply to comment #3) > *** Bug 17546 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** Michael, this bug is not duplicate to 17546 one. It is about using the Touch alone with the usb storage devices or sd cards. And is pretty important to people like me, not able to finish the TinySB scan without problems on the device which is on the market for some time.
Touch with USB HDD should provide a "browse folders only" mode Another vote from me
TinySC will not be updated any more.
