Bugzilla – Bug 16106
AutoRescan misses album art
Last modified: 2011-07-01 15:31:33 UTC
I am running 7.6.0 r30575 on OS X. I noticed that when I upload new albums they show up immediately in SBS. Cool, must be AutoRescan that is enabled by default. However, the album art is always missing. This could be because I am uploading over a slow internet connection, and the cover.jpg is probably uploaded last. The only way I found so far to fix this is to clear the database and do a full rescan, which is quite an overkill. I am not sure if this is an issue in 7.5.x as well, but I can test this if needed.
this seems like it might be bug 13315. At any rate, I can confirm this behavior: 1. add an album without artwork 2. scan for new music 3. scan is complete - view new music - whoops - now I see that I forgot to get artwork 4. add artwork 5. scan for new music 6. scan is complete - dang - artwork not picked up - clear library and do whole rescan 7. artwork now shows up for the new album definitely happens in 7.4 and 7.5 I think it happened in 7.3 too extremely annoying
see also bug 4874
just to make it explicit, the problem happens with manual rescan too, not just autorescan
The comments in this report describe two separate bugs. The bug description sounds like it may be a result of how the auto-rescan feature works when there's a slow upload connection, since the cover.jpg might not yet be in the folder when the new music files are seen and scanned by the auto-rescan. I'm not sure how or if that could be fixed. The best thing to do would be to disable auto-rescan. The comments by Sean describe a bug that has always existed in SBS, and continues to exist in 7.6. New & changed scans do not pick up new or changed artwork unless the music files themselves have changed. There are numerous other bugs filed for this. Suggest lowering the priority and/or changing the target.
