Raphael is currently working on that.

Moving to the product SqueezePlay because this bug appears to apply to any player based on that application code. Feel free to move it back if it's specific to the original product.

Current state: (Seen by MeSue and myself)

"Whenever I try it, it just goes slowly dimmer and dimmer until I go back and set it to manual after a few seconds. The one time I left it, it just went gradually dimmer and dimmer until it was dark--and that was it."

Also look into adding a minimum / maximum setting for automatic mode as suggested by some folks.
Comment 5 Felix Mueller 2009-10-27 01:11:18 UTC
Reducing time estimate as with the minimum setting in automatic mode we should need much less time to tweak it.
Comment 6 VolkerOth 2009-10-27 01:33:38 UTC
Please also consider the additional dimming the Radio does in e.g. the "now playing" dialog after some seconds of inactivity. While the brightness of the automatic dimming is usually ok for the clock screensaver in standby (soft off) mode, the additional dimming in "on" mode after some inactivity makes the display completely unreadable.
So when setting a minimum brightness, this should be really the absolute minimum for any mode. E.g. the brightness should be increased during activity, not further decreased during inactivity.

Bug: 11851
Description: Update from Raphael
Comment 8 Digital Mitch 2009-11-02 02:15:27 UTC
My experience of auto-dimming:-

From first install of Radio on 7.4 it worked well.
Then it suddenly stopped working, and in auto-mode would remain very dim (independent of light source - sun, incandescent, fluoresecnt, bright torch).
I tried a rest of factory settings (hold + whilst powering up) and the auto function has been fine since.

I have no idea what caused the auto to stop working (had upgradeed to 7.4.1, switched to 7.5Beta and back, crashed now playing screen by importing MusicIP playlist with an umlaut, seen Radio drift from sync with otherplayers).

If this symptom recurs with more explicit cause (or even repeatable), I'll re-comment.
