Bugzilla – Bug 11192
Red icon common since r3993
Last modified: 2009-06-17 09:37:00 UTC
Yep, seen this as well. But not on all of my Controllers.
Have seen this often, using SC 7.4/Win (svn) in the 250xx range and both SBC r3993 and r4154. Apparently it had nothing to do with real network or signal strength problems. (Especially since all functions and the connection were there.) It’s not been there (yet?) since upgrading to: SC7.4-25121 SBR r60 my current SBC is at r4154
Forgot to mention I also stepped back from using WPA2 to WPA (TKIP). And it usually *seemed* to happen when controller battery was quite low, albeit not clearly reproducable.
Bug 10424 may be releated
Just FYI: I get the same (confuses the hell out of the wife, she waits for white indicator when it is actually connected and working). The controller is fully charged, and the server is debian SC 7.3.2.
Since there's now a planned 7.3.3 release, bugs which won't make the cut-off are being moved to the next target out. If you feel that this bug needs to be addressed more (or less) urgently than the 7.4 release, please cc chris@slimdevices.com and leave a comment in the bug to that effect so we can review it. Thanks.
I do not use SC, only SN, and I just got the red indicator, and the hang on teh Goodbye screen (http://forums.slimdevices.com/showpost.php?p=403079&postcount=13). FW is r3993.
I am seeing this with SBC r5225 when connected to test.sn
Created attachment 5098 [details] Jive Log In the attached log, look around Apr 10 12:30:25. That is when I experienced the red icon. Playing a Pandora station on SN. paused - the track SS kicked in - picked up the device and red icon was showing
I can confirm this problem still exists in r5225. However, this is not just cosmetic; every time the icon goes red and sticks, if you try to shut down the controller, it hangs. The only option is to pull the battery.
Matt W. jive 7.4 r5226 ... just got a redi con of death... its still working though, and says 59% of memory is used says it cant ping both SN and SC... interstingt but says it can connect to them on port 3483 ip gateway and ipsubnet say 'nil' wifi signal says 0 snr
Bit more info... I had been actively using the controller for about 2 hours on and off. It had gone to sleep several times. I was connected to SC at all times, though playing a Pandora stream. I saw this icon of death when it came out of sleep mode. It did not go away until the controller went into sleep mode again and then woke back up. In this case, it really seemed like a case of the ping command not working, because it couldn't ping SC or SN (on the Diag screen), but yet said it could connect to ports 3483 of both of them.
Richard notes he has some ideas about how to improve reporting of wireless strength instead of running a shell command.
With my second controller last night I noticed it almost always shows a red icon when it first wakes up out of sleep. I brought my SD card in today to give to James for review as well -- this is from the first controller that exhibited these symptoms.
Using ioctls instead of running a shell command to get wireless signal strength. Fixed in r5490.
Tested with r5497 - so far I have not been able to trigger the red icon with any of the methods listed. please retest once a firmware =>5490 is posted to 7.3.3 beta
Firmware r5549 now available for 7.3.3, please download and verify this version. I'm marking this one as verified pending final closure when 7.3.3 is released or customer feed back.
This bug has been fixed in the 7.3.3 release version of SqueezeCenter! If you haven't already. please download the new version from http://www.logitechsqueezebox.com/support/download-squeezecenter.html If you are still experiencing this problem, feel free to reopen the bug with your new comments and we'll have another look.
