Description Julius Dauz 2008-12-18 11:49:45 UTC
Customer reported this for SqueezeCenter 7.2.1, but is still having this issue with SqueezeCenter 7.3. There was a bug that filed, reproduced and fixed/closed last year regardig this issue. That bug number is 4170.

He also stated that this worked fine in a previous nightly trunk version of SqueezeCenter (squeezecenter_trunk_2008-01-08), but has not in any production version since.

Below is the customer's description of the issue:

" deleted the program and did a fresh install of 7.2.1, which yielded the same incorrect results, "27 albums with 6263 songs by 24 artists". The majority of my files are .wav, curiously, the only songs visible in the Music Library "Artists" and "Albums" folders are my few mp3's. However, all the artist and albums, both .wav and .mp3 were visible in the "Music Folder". I them went back to version 7.0.1 and had the same incorrect results. Finally, I went back to version "squeezecenter_trunk_2008-01-08"
and got the correct results, "537 albums with 6263 songs by 1041 artists". It appears that the recent releases of squeezecenter that I tested aren't recognizing the .wav files properly, and including them in the Music Library, so that they are visible in the "Artists" and "Albums" folders. I have reported a similar problem in the past. At that time, an updated version of SlimServer (6.51 and 6.52) wasn't recognizing the tagged .wav files. I reported this to Slim Devices support, and they were able to
duplicate the issue, then did a release that fixed the problem (reported in April, fixed in June). It also effected AIFF file tagging as well."

I have also attached a sample file that was sent to me by the customer.

This may be a regression of bug 4710 (NOT bug 4170)

Thanks for clarifying that James.

This does look like a regression of bug 4710. I am not exactly sure about the format of the tags in the attached file but they are most likely id3 and are readable by AudioShell.

What program did you use to tag your WAV files? It appears to have added an ID3 chunk at the end of the file but did not adjust the chunk size which is supposed to be the total length of the rest of the file. You may want to find a different tagging tool. :)

52 49 46 46 DC EE AD 01 RIFF ....

DCEEAD01 = 28176092 bytes, but your file contains around 14K of id3v2 data and is really 28190444 bytes.

Our WAV reader stopped after reading this many bytes, and so did not see the id3 chunk.

I've fixed this in change 24584.
