Wrong Text

Now that the Mac Install Wizard has changed, this image is incorrect.
Comment 1 James Richardson 2008-11-06 09:14:44 UTC
Michael: would this one be yours to address?
Comment 2 James Richardson 2008-11-06 09:26:19 UTC
This is not JUST the English version of this page. This will also need translation to all supported languages.
Comment 3 Michael Herger 2008-11-07 01:11:02 UTC
change 23837 - remove misleading text.

When testing all languages, please also check whether all the message fits within the window. I noticed some of the chattier languages wouldn't even display the last paragraph. Thanks.

James and I were reviewing this today. In the opening dialog box, the current text reads: "Click Install to install the preference pane or click Quit to exit." This does not take into account if you are upgrading. (the button reads "Update" in the case.)

This could be simplified to:

"Click Install or Update to continue, or click Quit to exit."

Plus, "Install" and "Update" should be bolded or italicized to indicate a button. (or whatever is the convention for Macs.)

Ultimately, changes along these lines should be made and/or approved by Brian Dils and Matt Weldon.

I suggest we just remove that sentence? It doesn't add anything.
Comment 7 Michael Herger 2008-12-12 02:11:47 UTC
Punting to liberace & installer rewrite.

Nobody ever complained about this and it must have been "broken" forever. It's just stupidly awkward to change this in the OSX installer, as every language must be edited in the Interface Builder.
Comment 8 James Richardson 2008-12-12 07:29:13 UTC
It wasn't 'broken' until we changed the installer in 7.3
Comment 9 Michael Herger 2008-12-12 07:33:56 UTC
AFAIK there was no change which would have influenced the "updated" vs. "install" buttons. And that's the remaining issue.
Comment 10 Weldon Matt 2009-01-22 10:56:42 UTC
"Click Install or Update to continue, or click Quit to exit."

Plus, "Install" and "Update" should be bolded or italicized to indicate a
button. (or whatever is the convention for Macs.)

above quoted from Dean. This is the correct resolution, I leave it to you guys to prioritize...
