Bugzilla – Bug 9515
long audiobook won't play on boom
Last modified: 2008-09-23 08:07:34 UTC
I have a 44.1KHz Mono 32kbps CBR MP3 that's 118MB (8+ hour audiobook) that doesn't play on the Boom or the SqueezeBox V3. (WMP and Quicktime have no trouble playing it.) SqueezeCenter doesn't complain (nothing in logs). It shows that audio is playing and time elapsing. But the players themselves don't make a sound or show that progress is being made. The Boom makes a soft click when I press play, and nothing happens after that.
Update: After I split the audiobook MP3 into 7 separates files, each no longer than 80 minutes (18MB), the individual segments would play, though it seems that the first several seconds are skipped on playback. (Once again, WMP and Quicktime play each segment correctly.)
Joe, would you be so kind to attach the original file to this bug? If you have trouble since the file is so big you can try using our ftp drop box at ftp://slimdevices.com/incoming/
Created attachment 4045 [details] 32kbps CBR MP3 (generated from 22kHz 16bit Mono) Demonstrates playback problem on Boom and SB3. Starts with sequence of 12 dial tones (6 secs) followed by two minutes of pleasant hum, followed by another 6 seconds of dial tones. When clip is played on Boom and SB3, the dial tones at the beginning are never heard, so at least the first 6 seconds are not being played.
I can't attach the original audiobook because of licensing restrictions, and I was unable to create a test file that failed in the same way (i.e., that wouldn't play at all). However, I was able to attach a clip that demonstrates the second problem.
OK, this plays fine with the latest 7.2.1. I think it's a dup of bug 9291. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 9291 ***
