Description James Rome 2008-08-23 13:28:00 UTC
When you install softsqueeze, and don't have the mp3java plugin, you are directed to Sun to get it. But Sun has moved this, and I cannot find it on th3eir site any more! Please fix the link in SoftSqueeze

The plugin now seems to be at http://java.sun.com/javase/technologies/desktop/media/jmf/mp3/download.html. Since SoftSqueeze will soon be deprecated, I doubt anything will be changed in SoftSqueeze itself.
Comment 2 Andy Grundman 2008-08-25 09:51:03 UTC
This is the page that Softsqueeze links to, it should be updated.

IMO, at least half of the content on softsqueeze.sourceforge.net is outdated and misleading. In bug 6814 (closed as WONTFIX), I suggested eliminating that page and moving any content that is still accurate and useful to the wiki.

A dumb question. I was looking more carefully at the JMF documentation that accompanies this plugin. It claims that mp3 is only supported on Windows. But I seem to be using the plugin on Macs and Linux too. Does SoftSqueeze use the mp3 support?

We're working on replacing softsqueeze as quickly as we can.
