Description Mark Miksis 2008-01-27 14:52:54 UTC
There are a number of references to softsqueeze.sourceforge.net in SC and the SoftSqueeze applet that refer the user to go there. The info on that page is out of date and confusing to new users. For example:
- The main page refers to SoftSqueeze 2.0 as the latest version
- The download page refers to SS 6 and has no mention of SC or 7.0
- The SF download area has version 3.5 which is still not the latest

Richard: should we retire references to the Sourceforge project?
Comment 2 Michael Herger 2008-01-28 01:55:17 UTC
change 16822 - remove the user visible reference to sourceforge on the SoftSqueeze page. No changes to the .jnlp file done.

There's a popup displayed by SoftSqueeze (when it detects that it's an old version) which refers the user to that webpage for the new version. IMO, this needs to be fixed.

removing references to sourceforge

- replacing sourceforge links with slimdevices.com
- removing help button from window title bar
- there stil are shortcuts on the desktop, but I'm not sure ht install4j is used at all?
Comment 6 Michael Herger 2008-01-28 13:56:55 UTC
Alan - would you be able to test this patch?
Comment 7 Alan Young 2008-01-28 23:11:40 UTC
I'm not going to be in a position to test this for a few days. I have reviewed the patch and it looks fine.
Note that only Richard can do an actual build, as he has the relevant signing files.

Assuming that there's a working version of SS now, let's punt on building a new one for 7.0, do it in 7.0.1 and make it automatable in our build system. In the mean time, let's update the sourceforge page to point at slimdevices.com...

Note that the SF page does contain some useful (and I think still correct) info on SSH, Java MP3 plugin, etc that should probably be preserved and migrated to the wiki.

buildme.pl updated in revision #18234 to name Debian packages with a ~ instead of a -.
Comment 11 Matt Wise 2008-03-31 10:36:39 UTC
Argh. Updated the wrong window! Please ignore the last update.
