Description Kevin Elphinstone 2008-07-14 01:56:59 UTC
I'm running 21716, and hit this.

If I browse Genre->"genre"->All Albums it fails.

On my squeezebox2 it simply won't enter the menu.

On my controller, I get the correct number of Albums, but various artist albums fill the menu.

e.g. if I have albums A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, I , J (10 albums) in the genre

The listing looks like

A
B
C, 1
C, 2
C, 3
C, 4
C, 5
C, 6
C, 7
C, 8

where C is a various artist album with artists 1,2,3,4,etc....

Note that the web interface produces the correct result

A
B
C
D
E
F
G
H
I
J

The firmware for the SB2 is 100, the controller is 2679.

cheers

I should also add that I did a clear and rescan with the same result.

This is likely a result of change 21622 which was a fix for bug 8107.

not entering "All Albums" on the Squeezebox is deliberate, as the list already shows all of the albums. the "All Albums" item is simply there to allow you to have an item that can let you play "all albums". It should be shown with the note symbol on the right, instead of the arrow. This is what I'm seeing and would seem to work as it should.

Controller is another problem, and I'd bet it's already reported as a 'various artists' issue. Perhaps bug 8717 which is marked as fixed as of change 21745 (so a nightly more recently than the one used at the time of this report).

This seems to be ok here, with the latest. Although the "all albums" is redundant on the controller where there is already a "play all" option.

We seem to be removing functionality here, if I'm following this correctly.

When I want to choose an album from a particular genre I would navigate

Genre->Classical->All Albums and then choose an album.

Are you saying this is no longer supported???

This is my and my wife's most common usage pattern. In fact I think it would be simpler (for us) if the albums names came up under the specific genre, together with a "By Artist" menu, rather the now seemingly deprecated artists with an All Albums menu.

We rarely select via artist, which is why I'm surprised to see this being a "feature".

I plan to look at putting this back, it is definitely useful in the genre menu.

Just checked tonight, and yes, it seems last nights build contains a fix for the controller issue I reported.

So only the "All Albums" issue for the SB2/SB3 remains.

cheers
