Description Henk 2008-05-23 10:40:42 UTC
After (long) power down i try to connect to the Wireless network but the network icon keep glowing blue on the Controller, the Receiver on the otherhand is changing colors this is a normal sequence.
Even after a Wifi Router hang-up, and when i reset the WiFi Router, the Duet Controller can't communicate with the Router or Receiver.
Almost forgotten, in normal situation it plays very well (Radio internet station).

My Router is the LinkSys WRT54G with 7.00.4 and 7.00.7 Firmware, and both the same result.

No computer or NAS is connected to the Duet!

The only good result is this, remove the batterie from the Controller, and put it back after several seconds, after this point the connections are restored,
and the color of the wifi icon on the Controller is changing to white, thats good!
Only after this i can play the music again from a internet radio station.

The whole stituation can be simulated over and over again.

Regards.
Henk.

please do not set targets. these are for QA after a review. thanks.

no need to remove batteries. press and hold power button for longer than 10 seconds will force a hard shutdown, you can then power the controller up from scratch.
Comment 2 Henk 2008-05-24 02:07:04 UTC
Hello.

Holding power button for > 10sec. didn't work, i have a wifi connection, but the Controller NEVER find the Receiver, i did several try's, red flashing LED and more, but it never connect to the Receiver, only WiFi.
So i'll give up after 45min.

So i'd preform a Factory Reset!
After invoking the setup and 5 min later i have music again!
This is not user-friendly!

Regards.
Henk.

Update:

I spend another hour to get my complete Squeezbox-Main Menu back on the display of my Logitech Controller.
This wasn't funny!

Now it works as before, and i never touch for 10sec. the Power off button again!

Regards.
Henk

This is a reminder that this bug is to QA for 7.1. Please review these bugs!
Comment 6 Chris Owens 2008-07-24 10:47:20 UTC
Henk, what version of SqueezeCenter are you running?
Comment 7 Henk 2008-07-28 06:38:51 UTC
I print-out a LOG from SSODS and it's says:
SqueezeCenter 7.0-17793

Lateron I changed to the beta's, the latest on I used now is:
7.1  r2679  --> Duet Controller
FW 23       --> Duet Receiver

But the same result as before.....
So i buyed a brand-new Router D-link DIR 655.
Also same result, so we can forget the router as a being a problem!!!

The status I'll seeing the last day's is nice to mention:
WiFi Icon Displaying a RED color on the Duet Controller, but there is WIFI Connection all the time.
This morning after power up the Duet Receiver, the Controller steady shows a RED Icon and NO WiFi conection
(the same as the status log of the Router)

Thereafter I try to connect the Controller to WiFi, (Settings,Advanced,Wireless Network) but it never finds a Wifi Network
the Router LOG shows no attemps about WiFi connection.
Then, I remove the Internal Battery (Which I did so often, why is there no simply a on/off-switch?)
Then I'll get Wifi Connection to Wireless Network, I did this so many times, and then always succesfull.
Then also the Router shows in the LOG that the Controller is CONNECTED!!

In short, there is a serious BUG to resolve the Wireless Connection, again.
As I said I used several Routers and the same result and now I know for sure there must be a bug in the Controller(software)
The Reciever plays very good now, since I disconnect the LAN-cable at the rear of it.
The tip I received from the Custumer-support of Logitech Netherlands.

So the progres is?

Regards.
Henk.

Henk: Can you please try SC 7.2 to see if this version (which has new firmware for the Controller and Receiver) is any better?

You can download the new SC 7.2 from:

http://downloads.slimdevices.com/nightly/latest/7.2/

Please post in this bug if this did not help.
Comment 9 Henk 2008-08-18 03:36:27 UTC
Well i tested with SC 7.2 the Receiver updated to FW:45.
The Controller has the same troubles.
I have updated the Controller from Jive_7.2 -> r2788 to r2838
and in between, tried these FW for some days, and the Wifi icon glows again RED!
I can't connect to the Wifi network as before, after a few days
of good working order.
This means, when the new FW gets starting up for the first time,
and then between 36-48 hours the Wifi-icon change from White to Red.
But the Receiver will Play/Pause with the Remote Pause-button and/or
the front-panel-button on the Reciever!
But the Wifi is lost!
I can't even go in to the Info-menu of the Controller!

Remark: It won't allowed to send an example of the screen of the Contoller,
        because of the BMP format.

Plesse try the following.

On the Controller, click on Settings > Advanced > Factory Test > Power Management > then un-check "Wireless Power Save"

Test again, then tell me if the same type of behavior happens.

After a mains-power down, things goes faster, that way!

After the Router powering-up i could see (again) the RED-icon on the Controller.
And there was no way to get rid of this.
Tried connect to the Wifi again, but not luck, the Controller keeps searching.
After power-down the Controller (remove the batterie, goes faster)
it connects to Wifi, as the day before.

So my question is finaly;
Why can't the Controller re-connect to Wifi (in case of a power-glitch ie.)
but only after a POR (POR = power-on-reset)!
Aditional info: the distance between the Controller and Router is max. 6 feet,
and also in visual sight.
Comment 13 Henk 2008-08-19 14:14:46 UTC
Oh sorry, I forgot to mention that i have invoke:
then un-check "Wireless Power Save"

Is your SB Receiver attached to your network by Ethernet or WiFi?
Comment 15 Henk 2008-08-25 12:50:03 UTC
..Well in both cases Wireless and Ethernet the Wifi icon change from white in RED.
When in RED the Controller can retrieve the INFO from the Receiver, but NOT from it's own eq. status!
When it glows RED it won't even switch off!

Wel I have 4 log files 2 log are in the Wifi environment and 2 log files in the Ethernet environment.
But the result is the same no difference in White or RED icon a.s.o. whatsever.

So I have 4 log files, message and message.o , in Wifi and of course Ethernet.
can I zip these in a kind of file.zip.txt to Upload these files, or have you another work arround?

Latest FW. used jive_7.2_r2873.bin

Richard: can you take a look at the attached logs for any issues? I noticed that the logs were getting corrupted then the player would fall off and not reconnect.

Could this be a bad device? or another issue I'm not seeing.

I have been able to reliably reproduce this issue now.

1) Install 7.2, attach a Duet
2) Allow system to go to sleep, or hibernate mode (XP or Vista)
3) Wait at least 30 MIN
4) Bring system out of s3/s4 state
5) Notice Controller fails to re-connect properly. Blue icon, fails to control Receiver.
Comment 22 Chris Owens 2008-09-30 13:40:42 UTC
Richard, should this be retargeted for 7.3? I notice you haven't had time to work on it.
Comment 23 Ross Levine 2008-10-22 13:45:39 UTC
This appears fixed in 7.2.1, according to James. This seems to have something to do with bug 9770, resolved in r3191.
