Bugzilla – Bug 8201
Changing the Genres while playing a Random Mix leads to previous Genre Random mix being played
Last modified: 2009-07-31 10:21:40 UTC
Hi, Using Random Mix, I first select one genre to be played and then select Random Song Mix. The player then starts to play the correct genre. When I then go back to the Random Mix menu and change the genre to a different one and press Random Song Mix again, the incorrect genre is played. Regards
just to be clear, did you apply the genre setting before starting a new mix? Did you stop the old mix before initiating playback on the new one?
Q: just to be clear, did you apply the genre setting before starting a new mix? A: Yes, while the first mix is playing, I return to the Random Mix menu and select "Choose Genres" to select a different genre. Then I press the "Go Back" Key, returning in the Random Mix menu again. Then I select Random Song Mix and the player says it is starting a Mix. It then seems to continue with the old genres being played. Q: Did you stop the old mix before initiating playback on the new one? A: No. If you do that, e.g. by playing a single album, and then select a diffrent mix, this seems to work correctly. So my analysis is that when you play a mix and change the settings of the random mix, these changes are not put trough.
and from what you've described, this is while using the player ui (remote control)? or is this on the controller? Do you see the same behaviour if you are using the web ui? Part of why I ask where you are using this is that at one point, you were not allowed to start a mix with a mix already running.
What i described is on the remote controller of the squeezebox duet. The web interface has the same behaviour.
QA to validate and provide logs
This is a reminder that this bug is to QA for 7.1. Please review these bugs!

I have not been able to reproduce this error using SqueezeCenter Version: 7.2 - 22374. Please test with this version or higher and reopen if you still see the issue. Please set (plugin.randomplay) - Random Mix to DEBUG and attach the log to this bug.
Verified fixed in SqueezeCenter 7.2.1-23472 Controller 7.2 r3070
I'm using SC7.2.1-23630 on XP, controller 7.2 r3191 and I'm still seeing this behavior. I start a Random Mix with a single genre selected by pressing Song Mix. A playlist is created and starts playing. Then I navigate back to Random Mix and select a different genre (ie deselect the previous one and check a new one) and press Song Mix. A new playlist is cued up but with tracks selected from the previously chosen genre. Even if I stop the currently playing track and then select a new genre it still creates a new playlist with the previously selected genre. I have to clear the playlist to be able to select a new genre. This happens using the controller or the webUI.
due to missing change note and repeated reports about this still being broken, I re-open this bug
easily reproducible
change 24259 - reset genre list when changing genre selection

James - you should open new bug reports for new bugs. This original bug has been fixed and is noted as such in the changelog. If you re-open it to cover yet another issue (though related) we'll have to edit changelogs over and over again. Thanks.
now bug 10391
This bug still exists in my Windows 7.3.1 full release.
Sometimes I need some help correctly duping bugs myself. I'm sorry for the confusion. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 10391 ***
