Description Dana Frost 2005-01-29 18:18:58 UTC
For both internet radio and my MP3 collection the SqueezeBox just remains
silent and does not produce any sound through my system.

I am using the digital (coax) output from the Squeezbox into a Denon AV
reciever with digital inputs (PCM). It plays most everything fine other than
low bitrate MP3. Anything lower than 128 it seems to just not be able to send
something my reciever can play.

I have not tried analog.

Server Version 5.4
SqueezeBox Firmware 40

This bug is only for low bitrate MP3. I metioned it out of order but that is
the bug. Lower than 128 does not play.

when a file is lower than 128kb, does that mean it is 22kHz sampling instead of
44.1kHz? if so, this is already a known problem. SPDIF standard does not allow
for 22kHz, so many digital recievers will not accept it.

I don't think its related to 22/44khz because I was playing a VBR MP3 and it
actually cut out when the bitrate dropped and cut back in. Very strange.

I have switched over to analog (oh well) it still sounds great but its a little
disapointing that everything won't play digital. With all the great internet
radio thats now integrated with the player I could'nt miss out.

At this point If others using digital output are NOT having any issue with low
bitrat then I guess its related to the recievers digital capabilities.

FYI Mine is a Dennon AVR-2800 and I was using the Coax Digital input.

Routine bug db maintenance; removing old versions which cause confusion. I apologize for the inconvenience.
