Description Marc Auslander 2008-05-04 08:54:18 UTC
Today, when you play a stream that provides a title, this title replaces the playlist or favorite title provided with the link. This is almost always wrong - the playlist or favorite title was what was used to start the stream, and identifies it. The text in the stream or stream url is often useless or close to useless.

As an example, use radiotime to find wcbs 880 (in new york) and play it. The nice radio time title is replaced by the underlying url. (I don't actually know what mechanism causes this - is it that the stream provided that, or that the processing of the link lead to an active playlist entry with no title so the URL was used?) Whatever - it's not useful.

A BBC World Service favorite gets displayed in Now Playing as something like "Live News and Entertainment", which looks like its from the stream.

To make matters worse, if you have a radio url in a playlist, the actual playlist title sometimes gets modified!

Since I fear this is WAD, I've labeled this an enhancement request.

An additional observation.

This in fact works properly on the Controller - the original title stays as the first line of the title, and the additional info becomes the second line.
