Description Puc Covelli 2005-01-27 15:49:03 UTC
I have installed version 5.4.0 on my Windows Server 2003 but when I try to
connect to the Squeezebox or try to connect to the server to play my AAC files,
from the SqueezeBox I get a blue screen of death!!

Some kind of non-paged memory fault. The machine then reboots.

I already have it running successfully on an XP machine with exactly the same
settings and its fine. It just doesn't like my Windows 2003 server.

Please help!!! It happens immediately EVERY time I try to interface with the
Squeeze box.

Have you tried 5.4.1 nightly builds at all?

I have tried 5.4.1 and its doing exctly the same thing.

What am I to do. My server is meant to be streaming my music and I can't even
use it.

Is there any other server softwware that sorks with a sqeezebox I can try
instead??

I'm at the end of my teather on this. Is there any checking/debugging I can try
to help fix it?

Hvae you contacted support@slimdevices.com about this? BSOD is most often a
video driver problem. It could be a conflict with the slimserver in some way.
Have you tried latest drivers for your video card as well?
Comment 4 Puc Covelli 2005-02-22 14:59:33 UTC
I am using the latest drivers. Its an ATi RAGE XL onboard video.

It does seem to give a video related error when it blue screens.

As I'm using the latest driver, what can I do now?

I booted the machine again yesterday and it saud there was a problem with
mov123.exe.

I have seen other posts about mov123.exe and windows 2003 crashing.

Could it be that? Its definately not a hardware driver as it only happens when
i try to play a file.

Is mov123.exe only used when playing .mp4a files? If so I can test it by
removing all the mp4a files and leave only a few mp3's and see if it still
crashes.

Have you tried the 6.0a alpha with any better results?

Some users have reported that they have had success on other problems witn
mov123.exe by using the mov123.exe from an older version of slimserver. 5.3
perhaps. This may be related to bug415 and bug780. in the case of 780, the
suggestion is to install the very latest version of quicktime (that might be the
video connection). bug415 is also with win2003 and suggested removing quicktime
6.5.2.

Suggest we roll back to older version of mov123.exe.
Comment 8 Vidur Apparao 2005-03-23 15:09:55 UTC
Bumping back a version will lose a couple of more recent fixes. However, Windows
2003 have to option of downloading the older version from:

https://svn.slimdevices.com/*checkout*/trunk/server/Bin/MSWin32-x86-multi-thread/mov123.exe?rev=869

and putting the downloaded version of mov123.exe in the
server/Bin/MSWin32-x86-multi-thread subdirectory of their SlimServer installation.

I'd also be curious to know if anyone has had any luck with a later version of
Quicktime for Windows.
