Description Caleb Crome 2008-04-20 13:15:10 UTC
When I use the now playing screensaver, I expect it to behave like Now Playing, rather than it to behave like a separate thing.

For example, in Pandora when I want to say 'I like this song' or 'This totally stinks', I hit the center button, only to see ... basically nothing happen. (Yes, the album art gets smaller, etc, but it's not clear what's going on). Then I hit center button again to get where I want.

I have to say that I agree. The Now Playing screensaver isn't sufficiently different from the regular now playing screen. I propose that we just return to the Now Playing screensaver being a just a jump to the regular now playing screen.

As a separate screensaver, we should consider a specially designed full-screen artwork screensaver: 240x240 artwork with the title below.

proposal is to have the center button behave the same as if you are on the Now Playing browse screen, but all other buttons behave as they would for exiting a screensaver.

I will look at this for 7.1

I would propose that also the home button will go home. Do I ever want to press home while looking at now playing and have it go to a (very slightly) different now playing display?

fixed in 7.1 r2671. woot!

behavior now is as follows:

when NowPlaying 'screensaver' is in effect:
--center button navigates to playlist window (or to trackinfo window for playlist size of 1, as is the case with Pandora)
--home button goes home
--left arrow (or any other button except center or home) takes you back to the window you were viewing before screensaver kicked in

Now if the screensaver looked completely like now playing - including the bottom status bar with signal, time etc.
Comment 8 Ben Klaas 2008-07-07 15:14:58 UTC
actually, great effort was made for it *not* to look like that. Feel free to file an enhancement request, but that's not the current spec for the screensaver.

Verified to be fixed in 21998, very cool.
