Bugzilla – Bug 7885
Backlit buttons go in/out while connecting
Last modified: 2008-08-28 16:58:49 UTC
With firmware 4 and the backlit buttons, while the Boom tries to find a server the buttons keep lighting up and then going out. With the server completely shut down it does this continuously.
Are you sure you are trying to connect to a SC7 that is ready for Boom. I only see this behavior if trying to connect to a SC7 not aware of Boom (i.e. 7.0.x or 7.1).
It could very well be that. I have several instances of SlimServer 6.5.5 and SqueezeCenter 7 and 7.0.1 running on my server using different IP addresses. So if the 7.2 Boom instance is shut down then it must be trying one of the others. This has always been a little tricky for the Squeezeboxes, because the server name is the same (see bug 3592), but it's more trouble for Boom. I was going to file a report on it, but it's inconsistent - the Boom doesn't seem terribly good at reconnecting to the same server that it was last connected to. If I pop out to the setup menu ane either connect to the first server offered (I can never read the full line of what it says, so can't see the IP address - it doesn't fit on the display and it doesn't scroll) it often won't reconnect, so is probably trying one of the wrong servers. If I walk through the network setup, the server IP displayed won't always be the one most recently used. I often have to enter the IP address. My Transporter and SB2 are much better at sticking to the last server used.
This should only happen when using with a version older than 7.2. If anyone sees it elsewhere, please re-open.
