MP3 file with tags and lyrics

A number of my songs with lyrics that display normally in iTunes and other audio software have the lyrics displayed as indecipherable foreign characters. I have attached a file with a song that exhibits the problem.
Comment 1 Chris Owens 2008-04-16 09:33:12 UTC
QA to repro
Comment 2 James Richardson 2008-05-15 17:55:26 UTC
Unable to reproduce with 7.0.1 - 19705 r2448 / r23

Joe: Can you please re-test with the above (new) release version, if you still see the issue, please re-open the bug. Include step-by-step instructions on how to replicate the error you are seeing.
Comment 3 Joe Buccino 2008-05-23 06:01:57 UTC
I just tested with the official 7.0.1 and I get the exact same results. There is no step-by-step. The song is in my iTunes library and the lyrics show up fine. When I browse my music with SqueezeCenter all the other information (title, length, etc) show up correctly but the lyrics show up as foreign characters. I am running 7.0.1 on a MacBook Pro with 10.5.2. My system is accessible from remotely if you want to take a look.
Comment 4 Chris Owens 2008-06-19 10:50:18 UTC
This is a reminder that this bug is to QA for 7.1. Please review these bugs!
Comment 5 Chris Owens 2008-07-16 18:12:28 UTC
QA hasn't had an opportunity to spend more time trying to reproduce this. Retargeting to 7.2 so that it doesn't affect the 7.1 release.

OK, I have finally been able to reproduce this issue, I have seen this issue on the WEB UI and Player UI(s) when looking at the Lyrics.

The song players fine, just the Lyrics are messed up.

See attached screen capture.
Comment 7 Joe Buccino 2008-08-06 05:33:59 UTC
I'm glad to hear that. As I mentioned this is easily and consistently reproducible on my system (and has been since version 7.0). I am happy to help test new software when a fix is available.
Comment 8 Ross Levine 2008-08-07 15:21:08 UTC
In XP it's displayed as all boxes, linux shows question marks. This is easily reproduced.
Comment 9 Joe Buccino 2008-08-28 14:58:40 UTC
Still a problem in 7.2

Comment 11 Joe Buccino 2008-10-06 14:37:13 UTC
No. I tried build 23422 today and I still have the exact same problem. Do you want any additional information?
Comment 12 Michael Herger 2008-10-08 07:13:28 UTC
Yes, please add the server details from Settings/Status, locale etc.

Here is my Status information. What do you mean by "locale"?
Comment 14 Michael Herger 2008-10-09 04:38:26 UTC
James/Ross - could you please test this file

a. when read by importing iTunes data
b. when scanning a music folder (with iTunes disabled)

Is there a difference?
Comment 15 Joe Buccino 2008-10-21 18:37:18 UTC
The 7.2.1 release still has the same problem. Again, if you need any assistance I would be happy to help.
Comment 16 Spies Steven 2008-11-14 14:53:09 UTC
I have been unable to reproduce this issue with the nightly of 7.3 on both Mac OS X and Windows XP.

Joe, can you try a nightly of 7.3? Please be sure to do a "Clear library and rescan everything" under basic settings as well after the install has completed. Doing so should force a new scan even though installing 7.3 should trigger one just the same.
Comment 17 Joe Buccino 2008-11-14 15:41:40 UTC
I just tried the November 14 nightly and the foreign characters are not a problem any longer. However, line feeds are not working properly and everything appears on one line. (It is correct in Itunes.) You can see the results with the IP address I sent you earlier.
Comment 18 Spies Steven 2008-11-14 16:02:57 UTC
Opened bug 10018 to cover the lack of line breaks in lyrics tags.

Resolving this bug as works for me.
Comment 19 Chris Owens 2009-07-31 10:19:33 UTC
Reduce number of active targets for SC
Comment 20 James Richardson 2012-02-27 17:33:01 UTC
Closing resolved bugs - if you feel this bug still exists please first re-test
with the latest SW/FW version. If you are able to reproduce then feel free to
reopen and attach new logs / steps to reproduce.
