Description Mickey Gee 2008-04-04 15:19:50 UTC
I'm testing the Squeezebox Duet and switching languages. When I choose any non-English language on the SB Controller, I still see English on my player home menu, such as Music Services or Favorites or Music Library or Extras.

Seen when connected to the test squeezenetwork and Controller firmware r2167.

This bug is different than bug 6461, I think. Right now, if the user is connected on Squeezenetwork only with Jive when the user changes languages the user is supposed to:

1. Select a non-English language on Jive screen. Now shows some strings on Jive screen in another language, but still some strings are in English.
2. To switch the remaining strings to non-English language, the user should go to Squeezenetwork to switch the language.

Right now, the second step seems to switch only a few, like Pandora.
Comment 3 Andy Grundman 2008-04-09 07:53:30 UTC
Fixed in r18604. The only missing piece is that Jive does not refresh the main menu after the language setting is changed. Ben is going to work on this so assigning this bug over to him.
Comment 4 Ben Klaas 2008-04-09 14:32:04 UTC
jive side now re-requests home menu after language change. fixed in r2181
Comment 5 Ross Levine 2008-04-16 15:54:27 UTC
Reproduced this with version 7.1 r2232.
Comment 6 Ross Levine 2008-04-16 16:39:08 UTC
Sorry that screen capture was connecting to squeezenetwork, connecting to test.squeezenetwork its better but not perfect. Extras should probably be suplementos. Also it says Turn Off Squeezebox.
Comment 7 Andy Grundman 2008-04-16 17:51:34 UTC
OK, you've probably found a few cases where the string() method is not called properly. I'll check it out.
Comment 8 Andy Grundman 2008-04-17 10:45:19 UTC
Should be better now, please re-test. Note that "Extras" is not translated in any language. Refer to the strings.txt file here http://svn.slimdevices.com/repos/slim/7.0/trunk/server/strings.txt if you're not sure something is right.
Comment 9 Ross Levine 2008-04-17 13:16:19 UTC
Thanks looks great Andy.
Comment 10 Chris Owens 2008-04-23 15:56:05 UTC
Ross now reports this does not appear fixed. See also bug 6461 and bug 6616.
Comment 11 Andy Grundman 2008-04-23 16:23:07 UTC
Can you add steps to reproduce on SN?
Comment 12 Ross Levine 2008-04-23 16:57:29 UTC
Sorry about that Andy. Connect Jive to ABBA, change the language. I'm finding that half the home screen changes the language and half does not, if I then reboot Jive, the home screen is completely the appropriate language.

Reproduced this from English to Spanish, then again from Spanish to German. Also Steven reproduced this before he left today.
Comment 13 Andy Grundman 2008-04-23 16:59:56 UTC
What version of Jive fw are you testing with? That fix requires 7.0.1 firmware.
Comment 14 Ross Levine 2008-04-23 17:01:40 UTC
7.0.1 r2287, and still sometimes SqueezeNetwork is asking I do a firmware update, which I try to do, and it fails 3 times then reboots.

Steven reproduced this before he left and he is not seeing the firmware update requests like I am, yet he's using the same firmware.
Comment 15 Andy Grundman 2008-04-23 17:03:37 UTC
Can you try with the latest 7.0.1 firmware, r2318?
Comment 16 Ross Levine 2008-04-23 17:35:46 UTC
With r2318 language switching works much better. Immediately the menu is completely correct, tested English to Spanish, then to German and back to English.

Steven and Mike and I will spend time on this again tomorrow, marking this as works for me. Thanks Andy.
Comment 17 Andy Grundman 2008-04-23 17:46:06 UTC
So this is one bug where we would need to force-upgrade 7.0 users on SN. If this bug is considered important anyway. So keep that in mind.
Comment 18 James Richardson 2008-05-12 10:15:45 UTC
Once 7.0.1 is release, with Jive r2409 this issue should go away.

Marking as Fixed.
Comment 19 James Richardson 2008-05-15 12:25:38 UTC
This bug has recently been fixed in the latest release of SqueezeCenter 7.0.1

Please try that version, if you still see the error, then reopen this bug.
