Description Chris Owens 2008-03-11 15:54:37 UTC
Seth at Rhapsody reports that the display sometimes gets left behind when the music changes.

James, could you try to reproduce this with the 7.0 release where it will be easier to debug, and coordinate with Andy on what kind of debugging info would be most useful?
Comment 1 Michael Herger 2008-03-12 00:49:05 UTC
I've seen this last night: the Now Playing screen would already count the seconds, while Rhapsody took forever to buffer my song - Controller ended up being a minute ahead. I was never aware of this as the buffering usually doesn't take that long.
Comment 2 Andy Grundman 2008-03-12 06:40:47 UTC
Don't the seconds get reset properly at the next playerstatus?
Comment 3 Michael Herger 2008-03-12 06:48:50 UTC
no, not in my case
Comment 4 Andy Grundman 2008-03-12 06:52:15 UTC
Ben, can you comment?
Comment 5 Ben Klaas 2008-03-12 07:04:25 UTC
Sorry, I've never seen it. This bug is open in SN...is this a Controller bug, or is the issue also in the WebUI/PlayerUI?

If a clear path can be identified to reproducing this, I can work on getting some debug from both SC and SBC sides.

Comment 6 Andy Grundman 2008-03-12 07:06:02 UTC
Hmm, hopefully the bug is also present in SC. If not we might have an issue with jived on SN losing subscriptions.
Comment 7 Chris Owens 2008-03-12 09:57:03 UTC
Well there is also bug 7489 which I can reproduce with SC

Andy:

what kind of logs do you need from me? Or do we even need to have logs now?

I'll look at both this issue and bug 7489

If you can reproduce with SC7 you should get a network.cometd and player.source log, and make sure you note the exact time the track changed without changing on Jive, since that log will be pretty big.

I have not been able to reproduce this with SC...while the display does lag 1-2 seconds from buffering, it recovers within 5 seconds of playing the song. Jive Display and SC UI get back into sync very quickly if there is a lag. I have never seen Michale's issue of a whole minute. Guess my lag isn't that bad :)

I have tested this at Home as Work. Will test with SN next to see if I can repo the issue.

Using SN, I don't see this issue of playtime lag either. I have tested at home and work.

I did notice, that while using SN, the Jive will display the NEXT track to play about 5 seconds before the end of the current track. This is a pretty cool feature if you ask me. If it's designed to do that, if not, don't change it IMHO

This bug has recently been fixed in the latest release of SqueezeCenter 7.0.1

Please try that version, if you still see the error, then reopen this bug.
