Description Sean Adams 2008-02-04 12:04:46 UTC
Customer reports hearing degauss cycle multiple times per minute. Since no high-level changes have been made to knob behavior, this could be a UART bug.
Comment 1 Blackketter Dean 2008-02-04 12:23:40 UTC
CC'ing Richard, he did some tricks to prevent the degaussing

Comment 2 Sean Adams 2008-02-04 12:28:52 UTC
I suspect they're actually being triggered by errors on the rs232, not at the knob driver level. The only thing that has been touched is the UART implementation.
Comment 3 Richard Titmuss 2008-02-04 12:38:18 UTC
To prevent the knob from degaussing a timer is used to wiggle it in the software. If some of those commands are not getting through over the rs232 I would expect excess degaussing to happen.
Comment 4 Gordon Harris 2008-04-13 15:19:18 UTC
I've been experiencing this. I had disabled the RS232 plug-in. Enabling it seems to have solved the problem for me.

I spoke too soon. It's back again.

Fixed UART bug in FW43. Several customers have confirmed the knob is OK now.
