Bugzilla – Bug 6831
Set up Duet succeeds on Receiver but Controller is in infinite loop, DSFP A16
Last modified: 2009-04-17 11:49:54 UTC
I tried a standard wireless Duet setup this morning. It went smoothly until the end. I selected the Music Source, an XP SC7.0 server, and the Receiver went from BLUE to WHITE. But the Controller never stopped it's "working" anim; it's spinning endless on "Connecting to <playername>" even now. (10 minutes later) Details: * SC 7.0 16504 * Jive fw r1584 * Ray fw 21
Additional notes: I pressed LEFT on the Controller and it escaped the infinite anim and went to "That's It! >continue" but.... pressing continue brought me to unusal menu propogated with only: Settings, Extras, Choose Player. I powered the Controller down and powered it up. Now it won't boot. It gets to the "Free your music" page and then reboots. :( I next did a Factory Reset and it was able to boot to setup. Went through normal setup (although ray was already set up) and it set up successfully.
Ross: can we get some Jive logs on this to understand the issue better?
I've tried 10 times now on 2 wireless networks with 1699 and I'm not able to reproduce this. Dan would you mind helping me out with a log? I'll keep trying...
I wish I had a log. When this happened my SD card was out of the Controller. I have since tried to reproduce without any luck.
I put another 4 hours into this and I'm still not seeing it. Dan or anyone please feel free to re-open if you see this again I'm going to close this as works for me.
This bug has recently been fixed in the latest release of SqueezeCenter 7.0.1 Please try that version, if you still see the error, then reopen this bug. To download this version, please navigate to: http://www.slimdevices.com/su_downloads.html
Reopening this bug in our effort to improve Jive. Support continues to get calls on this issue. Further investigation is necessary.
Ordinarily we like to resolve duplicates the opposite way, the newer bug being closed. However bug 11184 more completely describes this issue. Dan if you have any metrics about how frequently support sees this, it would be great to share that in bug 11184 to help QA understand the priority. Anoops statistics are promising, I hope we can get a response from Osama soon. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 11184 ***
Spoke with Dan via IM. I misunderstood, this bug is actually not A13, it's A16. Dan, if you come across other disconnects between the DSFP google doc and bugs, please note in both! :) I'm going to mark this bug as works for me. Support: if you have customers experiencing this it would be great to update them via SD card to 7.3.3 firmware and see if their experience improves. I believe this bug could be a symptom of bug 11334.
