Description sbjaerum 2008-01-25 23:22:32 UTC
When trying to set the Music Folder to D:\audio\flac\ÆØÅ, I get the message:
Invalid value "D:\audio\flac\ÆØÅ" for audiodir
even though the folder exist on my disk.

This is on WinXP with SC 7.0 r16779

We're facing two issues here: first it doesn't find the path for some reason.

Second: even if it found the path, it wouldn't correctly remember it after a reboot, as storing preferences with non-lating characters is broken (see bug 6621).
Comment 2 Michael Herger 2008-03-17 07:14:22 UTC
while issue two now is fixed, I had to disable it for the music path as otherwise even subfolders/files with non-latin characters would not have been found. There's more work to do for this problem. Just use a base folder without non-latin character in it for now.

change 17910 - make sure the utf8 encoded music path variable is converted to the server's locale

Steinar - does this change work for you?

Feel free to re-open if this didn't fix it for you. Successfully tested, even with some Hebrew folder name.

Comment 6 Henry Denander 2008-05-08 01:07:39 UTC
I just downloaded the latest nightly, still this does not work
for me in Music Folder view. Seems like the other views
work fine and I click and the music plays.
If I change a folder name to exclude all special characters,
then it works fine - even if I have special characters in the
tags...

Henry - I think you were not allowed to re-open as you aren't the reporter of the bug.

As for your log: I see error messages about files which don't have _any_ non latin character in their file/path name, eg.
c:\Documents and Settings\Henry\Mina dokument\Min musik\Bill Laswell-Fanu - Lodge - 2008\Track01.mp3

Do all these files really exist at all? And as the list is rather short - are at least some files found?
Comment 10 Michael Herger 2008-05-09 07:29:25 UTC
Also: what's your music folder setting? Looks like it's "..\Min musik"? No accented character in there.
Comment 11 Henry Denander 2008-05-09 11:54:53 UTC
Hi Michael,
strange, that Bill Laswell album is deleted...
But the second album Hkan Hellstrm is in my folder, it has Swedish
charcters and does not work for me,
will not play from Music Folder view

playlists laying around?

Ok, but that's yet another issue - this bug is about setting a path name. Yours rather sounds like bug 7752. I'd suggest you open a new bug clearly describing your issue, configuration and uploading a full log from when you try to access this folder/track.

Does it show up and play in browse by album/artist etc. views?
Comment 13 Michael Herger 2008-05-20 00:56:22 UTC
Please open a new bug for this issue with the aforementioned additional information. It's not the same as originally reported here. Thanks.
