Bugzilla – Bug 670
SB will not retry SS locate after initial attempt on boot
Last modified: 2008-12-15 13:05:12 UTC
If the SlimServer is not running at the time of SqueezeBox boot, SB will report "Problem: Can't find SlimServer. LEFT to go back, RIGHT to try again. ->". The SB should re-attempt SS locate every x seconds (eg. x=10) to be self healing. Method to reproduce problem: - ensure SB has at least be initialized/setup/connected once on the wireless LAN - ensure SS is not running - boot SB and allow to connect to the wireless LAN - wait for noted message - start SS - SB never retries / recovers without manual intervention --------- NOTE: Player firware is v. 40 (not listed in bugzilla version picklist)

Strangely I no longer have this problem when running SS6.5
This can be quite annoying, especially when I'm using WEP, 'cause every time I reconnect to the wireless network, not only do I have to unplug the Squeezebox and replug it in, but then sit and hit the right arrow through the WEP password...it would just be so nice if it would do this all on its own.
holding down the power button will reset the squeezebox. I believe if you just leave it after the reboot it will reconnect as well. In my experience this is almost certainly fixed (accidentally perhaps) in SS 6.5. I've not had to restart my SB for months now.
This bug appears to have been fixed in the latest release! If you are still experiencing this problem, feel free to reopen the bug with your new comments and we'll have another look. Make sure to include the version number of the software you are seeing the error with.
