SqueezeCenter (latest version downloaded on 1/12/2008) gets confused when there are multiple albums in the collection by different artists that have the same album title. This happens when I use my AIFF collection but not when using my AAC collection. I experienced these problems with the albums titled "Brothers in Arms" by Joan Baez and by Dire Straights. This may relate to #5973 -- hence why I have copied Andy since he solved that one Version Information: SqueezeCenter Version: 7.0 - 16207 - Debian - EN - iso-8859-1 Server IP address: 192.168.0.90 Perl Version: 5.8.8 i486-linux-gnu-thread-multi MySQL Version: 5.0.32-Debian_7etch3 Platform Architecture: i686-linux Symptoms: 1) view by Albums only one cover art (or title) appears for the Album "Brothers in Arms" click on the album to drill down songs for both albums appear (both those by Dire Straights & Joan Baez) says Compilation: Yes (though neither album shows this in iTunes) 2) view by Artist drill down on Dire Straights correct Album Art is shown for "Brothers in Arms" drill down on this Album correct Album Art is shown correct songs are shown just for Dire Straights says Compilation: Yes (though not showing this in iTunes) 3) view by Artist drill down on Joan Baez incorrect Album Art is shown for "Brothers in Arms" drill down on this Album correct Album Art is now shown correct songs are shown just for Joan Baez says Compilation: Yes (though not showing this in iTunes) 4) view by Genre drill down on Folk (genre for Joan Baez "Brothers in Arms") choose All Albums shows incorrect Album Art for Brothers in Arms drill down on Brothers in Arms shows correct Album Art now shows correct Songs for Joan Baez says Compilation: Yes 5) view by Genre drill down on Folk drill down on Compilations shows incorrect Album Art for Brothers in Arms drill down on Brothers in Arms shows correct Album Art now shows correct Songs for Joan Baez says Compilation: Yes 6) view by Genre drill down on Rock (genre for Dire Straights "Brothers in Arms") choose All Albums shows correct Album Art for Brothers in Arms drill down on Brothers in Arms shows correct Album Art shows correct Songs for Dire Straights says Compilation: Yes 7) view by Genre drill down on Rock drill down on Compilations shows correct Album Art for Brothers in Arms drill down on Brothers in Arms shows correct Album Art shows correct Songs for Dire Straights says Compilation: Yes Testing: 1) Set squeezecenter to look at AIFF files complete rescan (clean out and rescan) experienced the symptoms described above 2) set squeezecenter to look at AAC files (these are stored in a separate directory, but should have all the same tag data as these were converted from the AIFF files using iTunes and no tag modifications where made after conversion) complete rescan (clean out and rescan) no symptoms experienced (squeezecenter worked as expected) two Albums showed up in Album view with the two different artworks shown not marked as a compilation Bug #5973 testing: the fix implemented has addressed the previous problems experienced Compilations work correctly Multidisc sets work correctly Genre works correctly Album Art is read

I marked this as dupe because he initially didn't post any description with the bug. But it may be something different, since he says it only appears with AIFF files, but not AAC files. I asked him to attach some files so we can reproduce it.

This seems to get even stranger. Tonight I ran some tests and got varying results. I created a number of short files with the same Album name ("TestTest") but different Artists and Genre. And I later added some directly from my collection. I concentrated the testing on AAC files. For all files that were tested they had the Album Artist & Artist in iTunes set to be the same. All files had disc x of y set in iTunes to 1 of 1. File structure was as per iTunes (e.g. AAC/Artist/Album/# Track ). I tried both settings for how SqueezeCenter should handle multi-disc albums. I saw no difference in the behavior regardless of how this was set. The result I seemed to get most consistently was that the "Brothers in Arms" albums were tracked as being separate albums, but it would get the album art incorrect for one of them (the first one in the list), when being viewed in the Album view. However, when I would drill down on the Brothers in Arms albums it was inconsistent. For the one that showed the incorrect artwork at the Album View it would show the wrong artwork when I drilled down to the first song; however, when I drilled down to the second song it showed the correct artwork. For the second Brothers in Arms album it showed the correct artwork both in the Album View and when drilling down to individual songs. For the "TestTest" albums these would all get grouped together under in the Album View and it identified them as a compilation. When I would drill down to individual songs it would show the correct artwork. I cannot understand why it should treat these differently. I was able to observe this behavior both on my Linux box (running 7.0) and a Windows box running 6.5.4. I have attached the AAC files.

I think the reason your AAC files worked fine is because the Joan Baez album has a title of "Brothers in Arms " (note the extra space). So SC thinks they are different albums. Removing the space causes the issue in bug 4361. I still think this is a duplicate. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 4361 ***
