Description Steve Sheafor 2007-12-12 08:55:54 UTC
I downloaded version 7.0 - 15154, and began verifying the fix to bug 6134. When I changed to the "Touch" skin (which I have never used before), there was a serious problem. There is a gray bar at the bottom of every screen, which says "About" and has the links to the SqueezeCenter and Player settings. This bar covers the bottom of the actual pane, rather than being below it. As a result, when I go to "Interface", select another skin and scroll to the bottom, I cannot see the "Save Settings" button and thus have no way to cause th skin change to occur. I believe the Save button is really there because I can see it in the "Basic Settings" window. I will attach a screen capture of the display with Interface scrolled all the way to the bottom.

I tried hitting Enter, but apparently the Save Settings button is not the default (it should be). I also tried going back to the Basic Settings selection after changing the skin and hitting Save Settings there, but that didn't work either.

Note that the gray bar covers the down arrow of the scroll bar in all windows, so it affects general operation of the skin.

I uninstalled SqueezeCenter, deleted the SqueezeCenter directory andinstalled an older version (15064). When I started SqueezeCenter, I was still in the Touch skin!! I expected that I would be in Default after deleting everything. 15064 also has the gray bar problem, so I am stuck in Touch forever (and it is a horrible skin IMHO).

I run two separate environments. SqueezeCenter itself runs on a 64-bit Windows XP Pro machine, and I can look at it with IE6 on that machine. I also run a client 32-bit XP Pro system and access SC with IE7. Both behave in exactly the same way.

not critical, adjusting severity.

Btw, some problems should be solved FIRST by checking with the forum. Adding verbiage and diagnosis to known workarounds, quirks techniques and setups interferes with efficient working on the part of the few folks involved with Bugzilla. There are many more resources available through the forum and a number of issues can be narrowed down there first. The effort is much appreciated. thanks.

sadly...I cannot reproduce this. IE6 svn 15228 winxp. Interface page can scroll down to reveal the "save settings" button.

cc'ing ross to see if he sees the same thing. I don't currently have IE7 to test with.

Kevin,

Thanks for mentioning the forum - I did at least find a workaround to get out of Touch, by tabbing down until I can see the Save Settings button. According to the forum, this problem also appears in Firefox and Mozilla, although I can't find a bug reported on it.
Comment 6 KDF 2007-12-12 11:25:37 UTC
its ok in firefox for me. Scrolling down shows the button.

ah, I know what this is. Ben fixed this already at change 15187. The 15154 that you have is not the latest build. The latest is up to 15205.

Builds run each day at about 1am Pacific time. It's always best to make sure that you do indeed have the latest before filing reports. It is especially important at time like this where development pace is very high. Win for you in that you don't have to write up the report and deal with questions. Win for us in that we don't have to spend time debugging something that works already, and win for Support/QA who dont' have to keep jumping versions in order to match up.

Please update and test. Make sure you clear the cache.

Sorry - this is definitely fixed in 15205.

I do not see this issue in 15239.

However I see something else I'm curious if you see this too Steve, after clicking server settings on the gray bar down below, it becomes a 'visited link' which matches the very same gray, at least for me. Do you see this? After I click server settings it becomes impossible to see without mousing-over.
Comment 9 Steve Sheafor 2007-12-12 16:19:57 UTC
Yes, that was happening before to me also (even with 15154). The "SqueezeCenter Settings" area is always gray, and I can't see the text until I mouse over it. The "Player Settings" area was initially visible, but after I selected it once it was then also all gray.

Verified to be working 15239, see bug 6342 for other issue discussed in comment 8 and comment 9; thanks Ben.

Please download the new version from http://www.slimdevices.com/su_downloads.html if you haven't already.
