Bugzilla – Bug 5966
OPML Files with Radio Streams under Podcasts Only!!
Last modified: 2013-04-29 18:56:33 UTC
OPML files can be used for describing both "Podcasts" and "Radio Streams". Example of OPML definitions of radio streams: http://wiki.slimdevices.com/index.cgi?WikiRadio http://opml.radiotime.com An internet link to an OPML file can ONLY be added under: SqueezeNetwork->Favorites->Podcasts. Example - an OPML file with "Radio Streams" has the title "My Radio Stations". If this file is added under SqueezeNetwork->Favorites->Podcasts, the SqueezeBox will display the menu: Other Services->Podcasts->My Radio Stations... A "Podcast" and an "Internet Radio Stream" is by definition two different things, A Podcasts is a "recorded" audio program, which you listen to at any time you want. An "Radio Stream" is a live radio channel broadcasted on the Internet. Problem is "Usability / MMI Design": SqueezeBox/SqueezeNetwork solution only allows placing fixed content of OPML files under the menu Item "Podcasts" in the squeezebox, even though some OPML files may contain Radio Streams. SOLUTION #1: Allow Squeezeserver to add "custom" ROOT menues to Squeezebox, based only on OPML/XML sources under: SqueezeNetwork->Players->Settings->Menues SOLUTION #2: Make it possible for the user to rename "Podcasts" menu item to something more generic - like "My Sources". SOLUTION #3: Find a more generic solution to the Favorites section...
