On both new and old Jive hardware release 1r467 (10 Sep nightly).

Go into Settings/Remote Setting/Brightness - use wheel to set brightness to maximum. Between 75% and 90% backlight is turned off.

This is a hardware problem, and should be fixed in the next board rev (P8).

This is fixed on the P8 boards (also known as MPQ boards). As it's a hardware incompatibility existing hardware won't be fixed.

I think I'm seeing this as well (or something very similar) on the remote I received a couple of days ago. How do you tell which revision of the HW you have ? I can't see anything in the UI for that and there was nothing that obviously said P7 or P8 or MPQ on the label under the battery.
