Bugzilla – Bug 4827
Cannot stream 32 bits wav files.
Last modified: 2008-12-18 11:12:53 UTC
System Info: Dell Optiplex GX620, XP SP2 ENU Steps: 1. On a clean ghost of XP SP2 ENU, instal SlimServer 6.5.2, build 2007-03-13. 2. Stream a few 16 bits, 24 bits flac and wav files. They work. 3. Stream a few 32 bits wav files. 4. Notice they do not stream. Question: In case such as this, what log files generated by SlimServer should be attached here?
I don't think we support 32 bit audio files natively. Note to self: complete supported files and format spec would help.
Richard, do we support 32-bit wav files?
Yes 8, 16, 24 and 32 bit wma files are supported, at 11025, 22050, 32000, 44100, 48000, 8000, 12000, 16000, 24000, 96000, sample rates. 88200 is supported in the latest test firmware, but requires a slimserver patch to enable it.
Richard, you mention WMA. Did you mean WAV/AIFF?
Yes, sorry i meant WAV/AIFF.
There doesn't seem to be any interest in this bug from users, so I'll take the liberty of reducing the severity and pushing it off to 7.0.

Since there appears not to be any files of this type in the wild, i'll say we punt on it until we get user complaints.
Searched the web and verified that there is no much this kind of file in the wild. It is OK to close this for now then.
Closing. Will reopen if more this kind of files become very popular.
