Description Anoop Mehta 2007-02-21 14:12:35 UTC
Customer emailed me with about 5 URL's that work for sure in Windows Media Player. When I tried to play the URL by tuning into URL feature on SlimServer, the Squeezebox returns an error "cannot connect to server for:". The URL's that are not playing are below.

http://www.decibel.nl/live/wma128.asx
http://www.xtra.fm/live/brava.asx
http://www.megastadfm.nl/live.htm
http://wildfm.nl/wildfm.asx

Anoop, all of these playlists point to mms streams and appears to be a duplicate of Bug 3383. There is a workaround for these streams however. The first step is to find the stream url inside the playlist. The following streams were found in the playlists in the order provided:
mms://212.61.66.79/Decibel
mms://212.61.66.79/DecibelXtra
mms://stream.megastadfm.nl/MegaStadFM
mms://wildfm.streamonline.nl/wildfm
Next make sure that both Windows Media -> Windows Media (built in) and Windows Media -> WAV are NOT checked and that Windows Media -> FLAC IS checked in Home/Server Settings/File Types on the server. You should also check Windows Media -> MP3 if you have LAME installed. Now you can paste one of the mms urls from above into the Tune In URL dialog and click Tune In and it should play. Please let me know if it works for you.

Note to self: Windows Media -> WAV should work but does not.

Anoop, did you have a chance to look at bug 3383? For URL's like this, Dan is collecting data about which URLs do and don't work in that bug so that we can make an informed decision about how we want to fix this issue. If you remember, please add future similar URLs to that bug. Thanks!

I'm going to go ahead and mark this as a dupe unless there's something else I'm not seeing with this one.
