Description Keith Briscoe 2007-01-15 13:36:30 UTC
Inspired by this thread...

http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=31652

When a Squeezebox/Transporter is turned OFF, it should not display connectivity errors, UNLESS it is using a screensaver which requires connectivity. i.e. if you use the blank screensaver and turn the device off, it should never display any messages of any kind until it is turned back on.

The reason is that many users may turn their home computers (running SlimServer) off at night, and the bright display coming to life in the middle of the night to report connectivity problems could surprise and upset some users. Those errors could be reported at a better time, such as when the user attempts to turn the device on.

see bug 4761, also related to the same thread.

This has already happened, so it's not a question of "if it could happen".

sorry. that was bug 4670 and from that, bug 4673.

There is no way for the "on" or "off" state of a squeezebox or transporter to affect how messages sent from the server are displayed.

We are fixing these *symptoms* in the bugs that KDF points to, but that's the best we can do with the current hardware.
