Bugzilla – Bug 4644
Various artist logic error (at least with musicIP enabled)
Last modified: 2008-12-18 11:12:53 UTC
Hi I notice the following since a few versions on 6.5.1, still latest has it: SlimServer Version: 6.5.1 - 11159 - Windows Server 2003 - EN - cp1252 MusicIp (v. 1.7.1)integration enabled with also path to music folder entered to keep alive 'browse music folder' option I have group compilation album settings active to list them as 'various artists' Since a few builds I noticed that songs from artists beginning with the same name (eg 'air' and 'air supply', 'black' and 'Black Rebel Motorcycle Club') AND a same album title end up together in the 'various artists'... interpreted as multi artist albums. Just a little clarification here: these four different artists are now shown as two albums ('collected'>i name all albums for songs that do not have an album 'collected').. 'collected' by 'various artists', 1st holding everything by air and air supply, the second album holding everything from black and black rebel etc. I do not believe this happens when musicIP is disabled however hadn't had the chance to test this out completely. The only albums I want shown under various artists I enable the 'part of compilation tag' for to trigger the behavior, meaning the mp3's I just mentioned also do not have this mp3tag entered in.
Max, this is possibly a duplicate of bug 4361. Could you check?
Subject: Re: Various artist logic error (at least with musicIP enabled) Steven, I doubt it's a duplicate but behavior seems to suggest it. Problem I am seeing was not happening a few builds ago, and it has to do with albums with various artists, not multidisc sets. I do not use the multidisc option. Another thing I would like to say though is that specific tags used to trigger the behaviour (as explained in wiki), now it seems slim tries to do some 'logic' on it's own? To be honest, I do not like computers doing thinking for me ;) It also seems that this is related to MusicIP being enabled... without MusicIP my problem is not happening I think. Max, can you check to be sure that this behavior is dependent on MusicIP being enabled? Could you also attach a few files that exhibit this behavior? I was also wondering what you used to tag the files.
Max, are you still experiencing this issue?
I am going to mark this as a duplicate of 4361 for now. If the behavior described in this bug continues after bug 4361 is fixed please reopen this bug. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 4361 ***
This bug is being closed since it was resolved for a version which is now released! Please download the new version of SqueezeCenter (formerly SlimServer) at http://www.slimdevices.com/su_downloads.html If you are still seeing this bug, please re-open it and we will consider it for a future release.
