Bugzilla – Bug 4609
WMA station crashes Squeezebox
Last modified: 2009-09-08 09:27:37 UTC
(reference tmid 15363) Customer has been complaining that while listening to this particular WMA station in Hong Kong, his Squeezebox 3 periodically crashes/reboots. I was unable to reproduce it until today. I did see the player reboot 1 hour into playing the stream. The station: RTHK 5 -- mms://202.177.192.108/radio5 Was testing on: * SlimServer Version: 6.5.1 - 10953 - Windows XP - EN - cp1252 * on a Squeezebox 2 with FW 69 Customer has been seeing this crash/reboot on SqueezeNetwork.
(from customer) I understand that intermittent bugs like this may take a long time to fix. Perhaps forever... So do you think you guys can implement a work-around, by remembering what the previous connection and re-connect on reboot? (from DanE) Would the "Power On Resume" feature apply here? Should it resume/replay/restart an internet radio station if set?
Is there anything I could do to help pin this one down, Richard?
I came across another WMA station that crashes the latest firmware, and tested this stream again. Turns out this one works just fine now. So, works: mms://202.177.192.108/radio5 Buffers OK, never plays, crashes about a minute later: http://www.tfm.co.jp/radiobar/tfm2.asx
The actual file that crashes the SB is not a stream, but a WMA file. There may be some server-side issue here, I will look into that. The URL is http://www.tfm.co.jp/planet/radio/sound/070807oa.wma Here is a Windows Media Video stream that plays static. I would think we could play at least the audio portion of this stream, but maybe not? http://www.beachfm.co.jp/beachlivebb.asx
Hmm, http://www.tfm.co.jp/planet/radio/sound/070807oa.wma plays fine when downloaded and played locally through SlimServer.
Can QA please reproduce?
With this URL: mms://202.177.192.108/radio5 ? Doesn't work for me "PROBLEM: CAN'T CONNECT TO SERVER FOR: mms://202.177.192.108/radio5"
Adding Dean as CC.
So it doesn't crash? Probably should go into the placeholder MMS bug and close this one out as can't reproduce.
Marking this as works for me since this is not immediately reproducible. Feel free to re-open if you feel this is incorrect. I've added this URL to bug 3383. Thanks Dean.
