Description Dan Sully 2006-10-04 15:59:53 UTC
The webUI (and perhaps the player UI) need to have a scan indicator, possibly with detailed scan information available.

My suggestion:

In the status area on each page, show the number of tracks scanned so far and the pass number (What does the scanner make, including the VA/artwork scan - three passes?). At the point at which you know the total number of tracks in the library, also display the track total in the status info. E.g.:

Scan in progress - Pass 1 of 3: 4,809 tracks scanned. Detail...
...
Scan in progress - Pass 2 of 3: 9,809 of 14,524 tracks scanned. Detail...
...
Scan in progress - Pass 3 of 3: 2,309 of 14,524 tracks scanned. Detail...

Show additional detail on the Server/Settings page, in the 'Rescan Music Library' section. Provide a link ('Detail...') in the above progress bar to that page. There you'd show something like:

Scan in progress...

Type: Full clear/rescan
Time started: 2:25:01 PM
Ellapsed time: 00:12:04
Previous scan time: 00:23:45

Pass 1 (prescan): Completed at 00:02:01
Pass 2 (metadata): Completed at 00:19:58
Pass 3 (VA/artwork): 1,504 of 14,524 tracks scanned

Add a refresh button to refresh the page (or display the above in an iframe so that the whole page isn't refreshed).

Triode has an initial version checked into trunk.
Comment 4 Adrian Smith 2007-04-09 15:39:43 UTC
Chris - it would be useful to get feedback on what is currenly in trunk for this. If it meets all requirements then this could be closed?
Comment 5 Ross Levine 2007-05-24 16:13:12 UTC
Works in 7.0a1
Comment 6 Jim McAtee 2007-05-24 17:19:06 UTC
I almost hate to ask this, but since 7.0 looks to be quite a way off, how hard would this be to port to the 6.5 branch? It appears to mostly stand by itself from the other changes planned for 7.0.

This bug is being closed since it was resolved for a version which is now released! Please download the new version of SqueezeCenter (formerly SlimServer) at http://www.slimdevices.com/su_downloads.html

If you are still seeing this bug, please re-open it and we will consider it for a future release.
