Bugzilla – Bug 4211
Can't find content in playlists after upgrade
Last modified: 2008-12-18 11:12:53 UTC
I upgraded from 6.3b to 6.5 and did a "clear library and rescan everything". The names of all playlists appeared in the home/playlist menu but the content of the playlists is no longer available. A new scan "Only rescan playlists" doesn't solve the problem. Belov is an example of the playlists that no longer works. This playlist is saved in a file called "Switzerland.pls". [playlist] PlaylistName=Switzerland Title1=Frquence Banane File1=http://fbpc5.epfl.ch:8000/fb_128 Length1=-1 Title2=RadioCrazy Classical File2=http://82.197.165.137:80 Length2=-1 Title3=RadioCrazy Swing File3=http://82.197.165.138:80 Length3=-1 Title4=Swissgrove File4=http://live2.impek.tv:8500 Length4=-1 NumberOfEntries=4 All of my playlists are of the same format as the above. Regards Claus
In the German forum there's currently a related discussion: two users report PLS support as broken, one of them worked around it storing his playlist as .m3u. Would this work for you, too? (Thread is http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=27795 for those who understand German :-))
You may want to try the MyPicks plugin... storing radio stations in a single playlist is not the best way to bookmark radio stations.
Changing the filenames of all my playlists from xxxx.pls to xxxx.m3u and then doing a "Only rescan playlists" made them all appear twice when listing playlists from SlimServer. Unfortunately this didn't make the content of the playlists available. BTW I use: SlimServer Version: 6.5.0 - 9916 - Linux - EN - iso-8859-1 Thanks for the tip about the MyPicks plugin. I'll have a look at it. Regards Claus
Ross, could you have a look at trying to reproduce this?
I have a possibly related problem. After upgrading from 6.3 to 6.5.1, the playlists are visible, but many no longer play. One issue is that a playlist with more than one URL always fails to play, the others I don't understand at present why they don't work.
Not hard to reproduce. SlimServer doesn't play .pls, period. It used to! I can't get SlimServer 6.5.* to play any .pls files. :( Do we support .pls? I thought we did.
tested with 7.0 just now and a single item version of the .pls file given above seems to play ok. also fine with 6.5.1. I'm running r10143 (had to fix a minor musicmagic issue to scan playlists only when adding the playlist)
see bug 4099
I'm on 6.5.1 and am still seeing this behavior. PLS files containing radio stations fail to load properly.
Bug 4099 which KDF points to was marked fixed at 6:30 pm last night. Has anyone had a chance to see if that fix has had any effect?
SlimServer Version: 6.5.1 - 10265 Works for me now. Dan could you test the latest nightly with your .pls files?
Dan Evans: is this good now?
Please reopen if this is still an issue. Thx.
Subject: Re: Can't find content in playlists after upgrade Does not work on SlimServer Version: 6.5.1 - 10266 It loads the first item in the playlist but does not display anything further. (this is a change from before where it did not display anything.)
Created attachment 1632 [details] Playlist in PLS format that only loads first item Attached is a playlist that does not load properly
So you are saying it is not fixed, Dan? Do you not have the option to reopen the bug by clicking 'Reopen bug' and clicking 'Commit'? I can check your Bugzilla permissions if they are not correct.
This seems to be working fine for me as well with 10273 on XP, although the second URL in the playlist seems to be invalid. If I try to get to it with a web browser it gives me a 404. I'm happy to work with you, Dan, to figure out what's different with your system, but I'm changing the milestone on this so it doesn't hold up the 6.5.1 launch.
Tested here in support and it works under 6.5.2.
This bug is being closed since it was resolved for a version which is now released! Please download the new version of SqueezeCenter (formerly SlimServer) at http://www.slimdevices.com/su_downloads.html If you are still seeing this bug, please re-open it and we will consider it for a future release.
