Description Michael Herger 2006-08-04 05:38:00 UTC
I'm often using the following folder hierarchy to store my songs:

Artist
  Album1
    Song
  Album2
    CD1
       Song
    CD2
       Song

Multidisc albums using that structure aren't recognized as the same disc any more. The first album's song don't have the disc number in their name ("1. first song"), the other disc's songs do ("2-1. first song of second disc"), similar to bug 3662.

If I throw all the songs of the two discs into the same folder, it's all fine again.

This file shows the d_scan & d_info log for two cases: Aretha Franklin's "30 greatest hits", stored in a folder structure as described, and BAP's "affrocke!...", all files stored in the same folder. While the latter is recognized correctly, the first shows up as two distinct albums. After I moved everything from cd01 and cd02 into the same folder, I've got only one "30 greatest hits" left (which is correct).

Two of Aretha's songs from CD1 and 2

These are two songs which are fine, when in the same folder, but not, if in CD01/02 folders.

Comment 4 Michael Herger 2006-08-04 10:21:02 UTC
In the case of these two albums, the structure that did _not_ work was:

Aretha Franklin
   30 Greatest Hits
      CD01
         11 - Think
      CD02
         13 - I'm in Love
BAP
   affrocke!...
      07 - Helfe...
      12 - Luckiest man...

Once I moved Aretha's songs directly into the "30 Greatest Hits" folder, I was fine.

Aretha Franklin
   30 Greatest Hits
      11 - Think
      13 - I'm in Love
BAP
   affrocke!...
      07 - Helfe...
      12 - Luckiest man...

And this used to work before?

The problem is that you have the disc number set, but not how many discs are in the set.

Album list without double entries

I'd say so: this is a screenshot from 6.3.1. Though I have to admit that, in an attempt to fix the issue, I removed the id3v1 tags today. I can't remember whether the disccount was in there. Isn't DISCC the count?

Good for me, too. Thanks.
