scanner.exe process consumes over 650 Mb of RAM on my system.

Just issuing a bug based on the forum discussion for tracking.

Fixed in change 8229

There are still some smaller leaks, but it's not nearly as bad.

Scanning 13,000 files on a Linux box causes the scanner to use 41M of memory (3 of that is shared)
