Description Peter D'Hoye 2006-05-01 03:47:36 UTC
I recently upgraded from 6.2.1 to 6.2.2 (including FW upgrade on my SB2), and have since had the whole thing lock up twice. Music just stops mid-song and the webserver does no respond anymore.

I needed to stop/start the service to get it going again.
Twice in 4/5 days, so not easy to debug

contact support@slimdevices.com?
Comment 2 Chris Owens 2006-05-05 16:45:30 UTC
Perhaps the same as bug 3334?
Comment 3 Peter D'Hoye 2006-05-07 13:01:02 UTC
Nope, bug 3334 mentions everything keeps working but no sound.
Here the server no longer responded to anything (except net stop)

Haven't had it locked up since this post. Don't you just hate this type of issues?
Comment 4 Blackketter Dean 2006-05-12 07:33:34 UTC
Yes, I do hate that. :)

Please look in your event logs to see if there's any error logged about the problem. Also, what was happening when it locked up?
Comment 5 Peter D'Hoye 2006-05-13 04:23:28 UTC
It hasn't happened again :( A glitch?

I do have _very_ rare wireless disconnects, but I guess everybody has those, and I think it shouldn't be the cause of what happened (I'm just writing thoughts down...)

The SB2 is used a lot here so any reproducable bug connected to the way I use it or my setup should have popped up by now....

And no traces of anything weird in the event logs. Any server logging I can enable (just in case), and will that create size limited logfiles?
Comment 6 Peter D'Hoye 2006-05-13 05:39:50 UTC
wtf? I had just posted my comment as the server hung itself again - a little different this time since I was doing something with it, and net stop wouldn't work (had to reboot). Also: the server was consuming memory at a very high rate.

What I did:
I encountered a track with a very large silence in the midle (the typical last track + 30 mins silence + bonus track)
I wanted to skip the silence by seeking past it (x2, x4, x16,....) but at some point the diplayed time into the track went backwards. Tried to seek more (x32) at which point it suddenly went forward very fast an ran into the bonus song. I pressed play to stop the seeking and was greeted with a message it couldn't open the file, and 5 seconds later the display went dark.

Went over to the pc and found the server unresponsive and on its way to consume lots of memory (was at 150MB and I killed the pc when it was passing 200MB, net stop not able to stop it)

changing summary to reflect new issue.

Peter - can you try the latest 6.5 nightly?

The code which scans MP3 files has been rewritten.

Thanks.
Comment 9 Chris Owens 2006-08-16 15:59:05 UTC
Peter if you could test with 6.5 that would be great.
Comment 10 Peter D'Hoye 2006-08-17 13:41:40 UTC
Just did and I regret I did

It's not compatible with the current audioscrobbler plugin :(

Going back to 6.3.1 is a horror story, _everything_ is broken.

Well thanks guys. I'll install 6.5 beta again to get at least some music in the house, but can somebody *please* zip me a working audioscrobbler plugin *please*
Comment 12 Peter D'Hoye 2006-08-17 14:20:02 UTC
thanks and sorry

should have been thinking and acting faster than typing here.
Got the latest scrobbler plugin from CVS and it seems to work ok.

So back to testing 6.5beta... Will write back if I see it go wrong..
Comment 13 Peter D'Hoye 2006-08-24 01:48:32 UTC
6.5 has been stable here so far
Comment 14 Dan Sully 2006-09-02 17:03:43 UTC
Peter - thanks for the update, and sorry for the upgrade trouble.

I'm going to close this then.

Please reopen if you see any additional issues.

Thanks
