Description Rick Berguist 2006-04-27 13:58:26 UTC
Installed 6.2.2. Plays first song, then will not play more songs.

Web interface shows the progress line moving forward then going back like its replaying.

SlimDevice says it is playing, but no sound and progress indicator does not move forward. You can hit pause and then Restart, but no effect. Skipping to next track brings up details on track, but it does not play.

Only way to get another song to play is to unplug and plug back in. Works for one song.

Song playing was MP3; also failed on flac

Blocker vs Critical - it's relative to your perspecive - I'm blocked :-)

yeah...whatever makes you feel better.

now, your log, I see some parse errors at the start, which could be a badly installed plugin. You might want to clear out any third party plugins for now (itunes update, for eg). Also note, iTunes update does have a problem if you run as a service. If you have upgraded then you should check that the service is still set to run as a user. Otherwise, it will block other tasks while it fails to connect with iTunes.

The top of the log does show an error going to the next song (can't open). If that is the stoppage, it would be useful to see a bit more of the log prior to that moment. If that is not the stoppage, can you let me know which song actually failed. The log appears to show nothing wrong aside from the first section.

consider contacting support@slimdevices.com (or phone) if nothing above helps (or if you find that EVERY second song is failing no matter what track). This does sound more like a support issue than a bug, mainly since this is clearly not a widespread case of unplayability (thus, not actually a blocker from the software project side)

oh, and you should be able to click on the link in your email to open this report, simply add new comments in the large "additional comments" field and click the "commit" button instead of clicking on "new" which created a second bug report (I marked bug 3333 as a dupe of this, as you no doubt noticed)

Fails to play when shitching from song "Alison" to "Third World Man"

Turned off third party add-ins - iPod, Biography, Album Review

Played Alison correctly.

Upon starting to play Third World Man, it just hung and never began playing the song.

No Add-ins enabled, still fails on transition from 1st song to 2nd

Played Alison correctly, failed to play "the Logical Song"

Slim Server works ok with SoftSqueeze 2.2

For some reason, the player isn't responding with the "track start event". I believe this is triggered by the buffer fullness. If you set your "now playing" dipslay to show buffer fullness, you can have a look at what is happening with that at the song transition.

I am not liking the parse errors that keep showing up either. Those are standard strings and should be fine. This hints that something isn't right with the install. Did you install the exe, or perhaps download the .Zip file and extract over the existing files?

Just to be sure, it might be worth doing a full uninstall (save a copy of slimserver.pref to keep your preferences) and then get the 6.2.2 EXE file and re-install.

I originally installed new release via the 6.2.2 EXE.

Did an uninstall & then wiped out the remaining SlimServer directory and then reinstalled via the 6.2.2 EXE. System appears to function properly at this point. Have restored all of the plugins I had previously installed. Must have been something with the EXE install.

As for the parse errors, they originate when the Weblogger plugin is installed (errors occur when the plugin directory and code is present. (even if the plugin is not enabled) These errors appear to be benign.

I'll listen to it tomorrow and see if it holds up.

Hello

I struggled now several hours with the same problem. I made an upgrade to 6.2.2. and after one song or 3 minutes the system stops playing. The Sqeezbox went dark but the webpage looked unchanged.
I finaly made a downgrade to Version 6.2.0 and player firmware version 28 and now everything is fine.
It looks like the firmware version for the player caused the problem. However, it was not that trivial to downgrade the player firmware. But after installing version 5.8.0 the player tried to upgrade but failed. After installing version 6.2.0 again the upgrade suceeded and now everything works fine again.

I think it would be worth contacting support@slimdevices.com for a more through debugging. They can get back to this report with a compilation of details. thanks.

re bug 3381. do you have fade in/ fade out set for crossfading in the player settings? Is the crash avoided if you set crossfading to none?
Comment 12 Chris Owens 2006-05-24 10:16:17 UTC
Has anyone who's experienced this bug, seen it WITHOUT having fade in/fade out enabled?

Or can I mark this as a duplicate of Bug 3381?

Thanks!

Apparently a duplicate of bug 3381.
