Description Trevor 2006-04-29 21:46:29 UTC
Apple lossless is supposed to be very easy to decode (for ipod support) so can the squeezebox support this file format like it supports flac? This would greatly help those of use who are tied to Apple's lossless format and don't have the bandwidth or computing power to convert to wav or flac on the slimserver for multiple streams over wireless. Decoder available here - http://craz.net/programs/itunes/alac.html.

Thanks, we'd love to add this, but can't immediately.

Am I smoking crack or should this be closed now? :)
Comment 3 Chris Owens 2006-09-29 10:41:21 UTC
Sorry, it turns out I AM smoking crack. We are using alac, but not in hardware.

bug 9481 articulates a very good case, and doesn't involve anyone smoking crack...marking this bug as a duplicate of that bug, so the conversation can continue :)

All new Squeezebox products are likely to be based on the SqueezePlay platform.
We do not plan to implement any further enhancements to the ip3k firmware or
which are targeted specifically at ip3k-based products.
